Bilingual Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Care Advocate
As a Bilingual SUD Care Advocate, you will serve as a crucial team member providing support to individuals seeking help for substance use disorders (SUDs). Your role involves engaging with clients, offering exceptional customer service, and coordinating care services to ensure effective treatment and support. You will work closely with other SUD Care Advocates, SUD Clinical Care Navigators and interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care. This position requires a master's degree in a relevant field, a strong background in mental health and substance abuse, and being fully bilingual (written and verbal) in both English and Spanish.
This is a full-time, remote role with the following mandatory schedule options:
- Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm PST / 10am-6pm MT / 12pm-8pm ET
- OR Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm MT / 9am-5pm CT / 10am-6pm ET
What you’ll be doing:
- Conduct initial outreach calls to individuals who have expressed interest in or may benefit from substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, engaging clients with empathy and understanding.
- Perform initial assessments to understand clients' needs and provide detailed information about treatment options, services, and resources available.
- Schedule appointments, manage referrals, and coordinate follow-up care to support clients through the referral and treatment process.
- Apply motivational interviewing and basic psycho-education techniques to help clients set goals for reducing substance use and achieving recovery, providing ongoing support as needed.
- Utilize foundational knowledge of substance use disorders, ASAM levels of care, and SUD treatments (e.g., contingency management, MAT, detox) to assist clients effectively.
- Provide immediate support and basic safety planning for clients in crisis or at risk, escalating to more experienced team members as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in various systems, including an EHR, and utilize written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients and providers.
- Identify and address barriers to care, collaborating with clients and the team to resolve issues that may impact treatment and support.
- Participate in staff meetings, case consultations, and training sessions to contribute to team knowledge and cohesion.
- Follow organizational policies and maintain confidentiality, compliance, and ethical standards in all interactions and documentation.
- Provide support and coverage to other SUD Care Advocates as needed, assisting with workload and ensuring team effectiveness.

What we expect from you
- Master’s degree in a relevant field such as psychology, social work, or counseling with a minimum of 1+ years of clinical experience in substance use disorders (SUD) firmly required.
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing and triage, with excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills firmly required.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish firmly required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and a commitment to embracing diversity and inclusion.
- A strong motivation to deliver exceptional, high-touch service to clients.
- Tech-savvy with comfort in using various computer platforms, learning new systems, and performing tech-related tasks efficiently.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and shifting contexts with ease.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn and adapt, seeking continuous improvement in skills and knowledge.

The target base salary range for this position is $32.00-$39.60 Hourly, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
