The Role

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Software Engineer Group Leader is responsible for the supervision of software developers in the analysis, development, and modification of complex software systems programs. Leads project teams to define specifications for complex software programming applications and modifying existing applications. Analyzes software and hardware system needs, options, risks, costs and impact on enterprise business process and goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees all steps of system development life cycles to assure conformance with established standards.
  • Resolves problems by devising or modifying procedures. Considers equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results when developing resolutions.
  • Provides direction and assistance to complete analysis of software technology projects and programs.
  • Defines project requirements by identifying project milestones, forming project team, establishing project budget,
  • Developing schedules, assigning, prioritizing and monitoring work, implementing productivity standards, and resolving operations problems.
  • Develops long and short-range strategic operating plans for the implementation and deployment of software services.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.
  • Determines the appropriate staffing for assigned software services. Directs the selection and training of personnel within the limits of organization administrative policy.
  • Improves systems performance by investigating problems, developing specifications, identifying trends in technology, and recommending solutions.
  • Responsible for Service Level Agreements or Operational Level Agreements for assigned software services.
  • Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and followed.
  • Formulates and defines specifications for complex software programming applications and modifies the existing applications.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working experience in leading software projects & programs and managing software teams.
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Expertise in .NET/.NET Core
  • Experience with Azure services including Azure Functions and Web Apps
  • Strong SQL Server skills
  • Strong frontend skills with experience in HTML/JavaScript/CSS
  • Front end framework experiences such as Bootstrap and React
  • Experience with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) a plus
  • Experience with workflow/project management tools such as Azure DevOps
  • Source control tools such as Github
  • Understanding of mobile first design principles

  • Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $110,000-$140,000 of the salary range and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.


All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. The target for this position is 20% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.
We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
