The Role

About Grammarly

Grammarly is the world’s leading AI writing assistance company trusted by over 30 million people and 70,000 teams. From instantly creating a first draft to perfecting every message, Grammarly helps people at 96% of the Fortune 500 and teams at companies like Atlassian, Databricks, and Zoom get their point across—and get results—with best-in-class security practices that keep data private and protected. Founded in 2009, Grammarly is No. 7 on the Forbes Cloud 100, one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies, one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in AI, and one of Inc.’s Best Workplaces.

The Opportunity

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for Front-End Software Engineers to join our engineering teams. Front-End engineers will ship user-focused interfaces and work closely with Product and Design teams while collaborating with many other functional teams across the Engineering organization.

Grammarly’s engineers and researchers have the freedom to innovate and uncover breakthroughs—and, in turn, influence our product roadmap. The complexity of our technical challenges is growing rapidly as we scale our interfaces, algorithms, and infrastructure. You can hear more from our team on our technical blog.

Your impact

Grammarly is growing rapidly. There are opportunities to join a team and learn from experienced peers, as well as to build product offerings and teams from the ground up. Within our growing engineering organization, there is plenty of room for ownership and direct impact on users.

As a Front-End Software Engineer at Grammarly, you will:

  • Ship production-grade code to over 30 million daily active users.
  • Grow and maintain the team’s technical excellence by harnessing practices that are best for the team and product.
  • Contribute to the technical culture of the company.
  • Harness engagement metrics to identify and build new impactful features.
  • Work on fun and technically challenging projects to deliver impactful apps on popular browsers.
  • Use React and TypeScript while building super refined and elegant user interfaces.
  • Collaborate widely with internal teams such as Core, Growth, Enterprise, Trust, and Data to deliver delightful product offerings to our customers.
  • Make a meaningful impact on the lives of writers everywhere!

Qualifications

  • Has solid software engineering fundamentals, including knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
  • Has solid knowledge of JavaScript (and/or TypeScript), HTML, and CSS.
  • Has experience with ReactJS, AngularJS, or similar UI frameworks.
  • Is ready to tackle infrastructure challenges when needed.
  • Knows modern web client development and testing tools.
  • Has a good understanding and practical knowledge of continuous integration and delivery methods.
  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is inspired by our MOVE principles, which are the blueprint for how things get done at Grammarly: move fast and learn faster, obsess about creating customer value, value impact over activity, and embrace healthy disagreement rooted in trust.
  • Is able to meet in person for their team’s scheduled collaboration weeks, traveling if necessary to the hub where their team is based.

Bonus points for:

  • Functional programming experience.
  • Past experience running experiments or A/B tests to test product hypotheses.

What We Do

Grammarly’s real-time writing assistance helps 40 million people and 50,000 teams write more clearly and effectively. For individuals, a free account can improve and strengthen everyday writing, while a Premium account helps users step up their game at work, school, and anywhere they want to communicate with confidence. Grammarly Business is tailored for enterprises and organizations of all sizes to help achieve business objectives by improving communication quality, efficiency, and consistency. Additionally, Grammarly for Developers allows builders to integrate Grammarly’s writing suggestions directly into their products, increasing their value by delivering intelligent and easy-to-use communication suggestions to their users. Our company makes money by selling subscriptions, not by selling user data. In building a product that scales across multiple platforms and devices, Grammarly works to empower people whenever and wherever they communicate.

Across the United States, Canada, and Ukraine, Grammarly’s values-driven team is growing to support our expanding user base and to continue developing our platform into a truly comprehensive communication partner.

Why Work With Us

Grammarly’s values-driven team is growing to support our expanding user base and continue developing our writing assistance into a truly comprehensive communication partner.
