Entry requirements:
The successful candidate will have a mindset that looks to constantly improve operational efficiency and workflow. Experience in the operations area of a hedge fund, investment manager or prime brokerage firm is beneficial. The position is varied in scope and the individual will be responsible for trade capture, trade matching/allocation and the full reconciliation process.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Finance, Accounting and/or Economics) and two to five years’ work experience at a top tier financial services institution.
Main responsibilities:
- Liaise with the execution desk to ensure trades are booked on time and trade issues are remedied same day.
- Immediately follow up with the desk and our counterparties to resolve any trade breaks.
- Actively monitor, allocate and confirm trades over MarkitWire, Tradeserve and ICE Link.
- Actively monitor matching dashboards for FX prime brokers.
- Perform reconciliations across Bilateral (ISDA), Repos, and Bonds, promptly following up with prime brokers, counterparties, and the desk to resolve any discrepancies.
- Coordinate the hedging of FX exposures with Treasury colleagues.
- Process OTC and collateral wires, manage fund cash balances and ensure secure funding in the Money Markets.
- Process and manage UMR related collateral accounts, trouble shoot disputes and resolve issues at the root cause level.
- Review and process FX netting of positions with Fund Prime brokers.
- Manage local market settlements and all associated corporate action events across multiple African markets.
- Liaise with counterparties, fund administrators and custodians on trade and settlement matters.
- Liaise with the fund administrator, accounting team and custodians on month-end closes, including addressing and resolving pending breaks.
- Contribute ideas to improving efficiency and controls. Assist with initiatives that support these efforts.
- Escalate and resolve all issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain and review all static data periodically.
Key attributes and skills:
- Strong knowledge of fixed income, interest rate swaps/credit default swaps and their workflow is preferable.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial and able to communicate well across all levels of seniority both internally and externally.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are critical.
- Prior knowledge of Traiana, Markitwire, Tradeserve and OTC Clearing is very beneficial.
- Knowledge of different financial instruments such as bonds, futures, foreign exchange, and derivatives is required.
- Experienced user of Microsoft Excel. Any VBA/programming experience would be beneficial.
Pay Range in New York:
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
Base salary- $90,000/yr - $115,000/yr
