The Lead AV Engineer is a new position at our company tasked with overseeing all facets of audiovisual services. This highly skilled technical professional is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting our organization's audiovisual (AV) systems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of AV technologies, excellent project management skills, and the ability to lead remote and local service desk teams through AV support tasks. A passion for delivering top-notch AV experiences and a successful project implementation track record are essential.

Specific responsibilities include designing and maintaining AV infrastructure in our offices and assisting with company events such as all-hands meetings and earnings calls. You will also assist in troubleshooting and collaborate with the Service Desk team to support our global AV infrastructure. Furthermore, this role ensures that AV hardware and software meet the organization's needs.

  • Provide technical support to the organization for AV infrastructure-related issues. 
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on AV and event space systems.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to the Service Desk team during live events and troubleshooting issues.
  • Conduct technical training sessions and workshops to enhance the Service Desk team's knowledge and skills.
  • Operate master controls during live audio and video events, conferences, and broadcasts.
  • Ensure seamless AV system operation during events.
  • Create maintenance schedules, troubleshooting guides, and runbooks for AV equipment.
  • Delegate tasks among the local service desk teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their AV needs and requirements.
  • Design comprehensive AV systems that meet or exceed these requirements, incorporating the latest technologies and industry best practices.
  • Develop detailed system schematics, drawings, and documentation.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and completion of AV projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless project implementation.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of complex AV projects, from initial concept and design through installation, commissioning, and ongoing support.
  • Oversee the installation and configuration of AV equipment, including displays, audio systems, control systems, and video conferencing solutions.
  • Ensure that all installations adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and the organization's requirements.
  • Lead the integration and commissioning of complex AV systems, ensuring all components function seamlessly.
  • Perform system testing, calibration, and optimization to achieve optimal performance and user experience.
  • Develop comprehensive system documentation, including user manuals, maintenance guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Stay at the forefront of AV technology advancements, continuously evaluating new products, solutions, and industry trends.
  • Research and recommend innovative AV technologies and strategies to enhance the organization's AV capabilities and meet evolving needs.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in AV system design, installation, and maintenance, with a focus on complex projects and advanced technologies.
  • Expert-level knowledge of AV technologies, including audio, video, control systems, networking, digital signal processing, and acoustics.
  • Proven project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex AV projects.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team of technical professionals.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels, including technical and non-technical audiences.

Bonus

  • Certifications: CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist - Design) certification or equivalent is strongly preferred.

For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $110,000 and $130,000/year with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $120,000 and $144,000/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, Braze offers full- and part- time employees a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that all Braze employees own a piece of our company.
