About the Opportunity 

Our Partner Integrations Team (PIT) are looking to hire a Software Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2025. The purpose of the internship is to facilitate the management of our Partners integrating via our Mercury Edge Connect service (MEC). This role offers a unique opportunity to work within an Engineering team dedicated to EnergyHub’s mission and also exposure to technical work for our partners as part of an exceptional development team.  As an intern, we would welcome your participation in team meet ups, discussions, and collaborative reviews. To provide direction and mentorship, you will work closely with a project lead to offer personalized guidance.

Main Responsibilities: What you’ll do

  • Design and implement a UI and required backend functionalities to handle managing MEC partners. The interfaces will help create new Partners, including
    • Connection information (URL, credentials/certificates, etc.)
    • Enabling monitoring and API validations
    • Easily add Partners to new utility programs
    • Facilitate sending requests to partners to rectify missing data
  • Work with the Design Team on the user experience and UI
  • Work with the project lead to design and implement the backend functionalities
  • Suggest improvements as you see them
  • Collaborate with the team 1:1 and in group meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience: What you need

  • Completed two years’ of degree-level coursework in object-oriented programming
  • Hands-on experience and demonstrated interest in both frontend (e.g. React or Angular) and backend technologies (Java)
  • Enthusiasm to continue development in front end and back end object-oriented coding
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including proactive communication on progress and blockers on project work

Preferred Skills and Experience: Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with building code structures that incorporate robust user interface design
  • Hands-on experience with Java Spring framework
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a development group environment

The salary range of this opportunity is listed below and is determined within a range based on factors including qualifications, location and experience.  This allows opportunity for growth and development within the role.  The salary offered is part of a total compensation package.
