Position Overview:
The Brennan Center for Justice seeks a dedicated Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist to champion our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. In this role, you'll develop and implement strategic initiatives that foster an inclusive workplace and advance the Brennan Center mission. This role reports to the DEI & Culture Manager.
Note: The position is based at our headquarters in New York City.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in developing and executing a comprehensive DEI strategy aligned with organizational goals

Collaborate with HR to implement inclusive hiring practices and policies

Design and facilitate DEI training, workshops, and learning opportunities for staff at all levels

Analyze diversity metrics and prepare progress reports for stakeholders

Support Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) including the planning of key heritage celebrations and educational opportunities for staff

Assist in implementing regular staff recognition

Support the integration of DEI principles into our research, advocacy, and programming
-
Implement DEI initiatives and programs related that foster a culture of wellbeing and continuous learning

Conduct diversity training and workshops

Collect and analyze diversity metrics

Contribute to the piloting and deployment of an annual mentorship program

Assist in developing inclusive hiring practices

Engage in community outreach and diversity events

Contribute to DEI communications and materials

Support the integration of DEI principles into various departments
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Sociology, or related field; advanced degree or DEI certification preferred

2-3 years of experience in strategic DEI roles or related fields
-
Proven track record in developing and implementing successful DEI initiatives

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong experience in project management and ability to influence organizational stakeholders

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range assigned for this position is $70,000 - $90,000. We determine our salary ranges based on market competitiveness and internal equity for each job. The salary offered to a selected candidate will be contingent upon the candidate’s experience, education, and qualifications, along with internal equity considerations.
