What You'll be Working on

The Director of Marketplace Operations will be responsible for managing and optimizing relationships with large retail marketplaces, ensuring seamless operational execution and maximizing sales and profitability. This role will oversee the performance of dropship operations, including product listings, pricing, order fulfillment, and inventory management. The Director will work cross-functionally with teams in supply chain, operations, product, and technology to ensure high performance and efficiency in our marketplace channels.

What You'll be Working on

Marketplace Operations Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketplace operations strategy to drive growth and operational excellence across key retail partners, including Walmart, eBay, and Target.
  • Lead the execution of marketplace strategies, including listing optimization, order fulfillment, pricing management, and product categorization.
  • Ensure the company’s marketplace operations are aligned with overall business goals, optimizing for profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Dropship Relationship Management:

  • Manage and nurture relationships with key retail marketplace partners, acting as the main point of contact for operational execution and performance improvements.
  • Work with account managers at Walmart, eBay, Target, and other major retailers to negotiate terms, solve operational challenges, and enhance the overall partnership.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including supply chain, merchandising, and technology, to ensure that dropshipping agreements are executed efficiently and meet partner expectations.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Track and analyze marketplace performance metrics such as sales, fulfillment rates, return rates, and customer satisfaction.
  • Optimize product listings, pricing, and fulfillment processes to improve overall marketplace performance and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Conduct regular audits and performance reviews of the company's operations on each platform, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.

Order Fulfillment & Inventory Management:

  • Oversee the end-to-end dropshipping process, from order placement to fulfillment, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.
  • Work closely with the supply chain and logistics teams to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained to meet marketplace demand, minimizing stockouts and overages.
  • Ensure that all marketplace orders are fulfilled according to SLAs, and develop solutions to mitigate any operational bottlenecks or delays.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with the technology team to integrate systems and platforms that streamline marketplace operations, ensuring seamless data flow between internal systems and external partners.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and merchandising teams to align product offerings with marketplace demand, ensuring successful product launches and promotions on retail platforms.
  • Work closely with the customer service and operations teams to resolve issues related to order fulfillment, returns, or customer satisfaction.

Compliance & Policy Adherence:

  • Ensure full compliance with all marketplace policies and regulations, including product content guidelines, pricing rules, and shipping standards.
  • Manage the adherence to marketplace policies and develop solutions to navigate marketplace challenges, such as account suspensions, product bans, or listing removals.
  • Stay informed of marketplace trends, policy changes, and new features to ensure the company stays competitive and compliant.

Reporting & Performance Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to marketplace operations, including sales, fulfillment rates, customer ratings, and returns.
  • Report regularly to senior leadership on the health of marketplace operations, providing insights into performance trends, risks, and opportunities for growth.
  • Identify and implement performance optimization strategies to ensure the highest levels of operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Must Haves

  • 10+ years of experience in marketplace operations, eCommerce, or supply chain management, with a focus on managing relationships with major retail platforms like Walmart, eBay, and Target
  • Proven track record of success in leading marketplace operations, including dropshipping, fulfillment, inventory management, and order processing
  • Deep knowledge of marketplace dynamics, policies, and operational best practices across major platforms (Walmart, eBay, Target, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret marketplace performance data and optimize operations for profitability and efficiency
  • Excellent leadership skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams
  • Exceptional problem-solving and project management abilities, with the capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with external partners and internal teams
  • Experience with eCommerce technology platforms and ERP/OMS systems (e.g., Shopify, Magento, NetSuite) preferred
  • Knowledge of dropshipping models and third-party logistics (3PL) is a strong advantage



Primary Location Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
