About the team:
At Smartasset you will join an experienced team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers who are at the forefront of AI/ML applications for the company. You will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with leaders from other teams (Marketing, Product, Sales, and Technology) across the company.
The Data Science team identifies opportunities that are aligned with company goals, helps shape roadmaps, and delivers critical data products that will have an immediate impact on the business.
About the Job:
Responsibilities:
As a Data Scientist 2, you will contribute to the development and deployment of machine learning models that optimize/inform business decisions. You will be working within the Matching Algo. & Forecasting pillar, which is responsible for shaping the logic behind matching and guiding key business decisions by studying how different advisor matching strategies affect company KPIs.
You will utilize your strong problem-solving skills, computational experience, and business analytics to solve real-world problems at scale. You will design and implement a variety of data products to support and drive business operations, working cross-functionally with peers and business leaders.
Skills/Experience you have:
- Proficient in Python (pandas, numpy, scipy, matplotlib, sci-kit-learn, etc), SQL and Linux/Unix systems.
- Knowledgeable of the best practices such as version control (git), documentation, and environments.
- Experienced in hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and other statistical methods.
- Capable of reducing complex and vague problems into well posed questions and next steps.
- Proven track record to modeling/working with complex systems, defining variables of interests that accurately represent existing dynamics.
- Scientific mindset that is able to formulate hypotheses and design/execute experiments.
- Ability to communicate efficiently with all types of audience (technical and non-technical stakeholders)
- Strong quantitative background, and a proven track record of technical solutions and thinking outside the box.
Skills/Experience preferred:
- Experience with CI/CD, containerization, and end-to-end model deployment.
- Professional habits around model validation, testing, and tracking.
- Comfortable in working on the line between data science and data engineering.
- Experience with model monitoring (drift / performance, confidence intervals, …).
- Experience with stakeholder Management, and in working independently with business partners.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to communicate via phone calls and/or video conferences (mainly for concierge and sales roles)
