Thyme Care is an oncology digital health start-up on a mission to create a radically better cancer journey.
The Role

Imagine building a better healthcare journey for cancer patients, where individuals and their loved ones feel seen, supported, and heard by their care team – both in and out of the clinic. Where fast access to high-quality care is the norm, not the exception. Where patients have access to a care navigator to guide them through their diagnosis and trusted support all along the way.

At Thyme Care, we share a passion for transforming the cancer care experience – not just for patients but also for their caregivers and loved ones, as well as those delivering and paying for their care. Today, Thyme Care is known predominantly as a cancer care navigation company enabling value-based cancer care; in the next few years, we will become a nationally recognized technology-driven and provider-centric care delivery model, reshaping the landscape of cancer care access, delivery, and experience. Our commitment runs deep—we're not satisfied with the status quo but determined to redefine it.

To make this happen, we’re building a diverse team of problem solvers and critical thinkers to drive innovation and shape the future of healthcare. If you share our vision and want to be part of something truly meaningful, we want to hear from you. Together, we can revolutionize cancer care and make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

As a Clinical Informaticist, you will join our Product team to oversee medical information management and develop clinical products and services to drive our value-based care initiatives. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining clinical content, terminologies, and datasets to support and inform Thyme Care’s risk-bearing contracts.  To excel in this role, you should have experience working with relevant healthcare-specific ontologies and standardized vocabularies such as RxNorm, SNOMED-CT, ICD-10, LOINC, etc.

In this position, you will collaborate with our Engineering and Data Science, Clinical, Health Econ, Growth, and Operations teams to identify opportunities to improve our clinical and data products. You will be a go-to resource for identifying and evaluating potential content sources to enhance our end-user experience and defining and implementing the use of existing ontologies and vocabularies for Thyme Care products and services. In addition, you will lead external engagements with potential and current partners to align on program population criteria and develop appropriate policies and procedures to maintain these definitions across our various contracts.

  • Advanced clinical degree (MD, PharmD, BSN, APRN, etc.)
  • Prior experience in clinical informatics and/or clinical content management
  • Proficient understanding of healthcare data standards and technology
  • Experience in working with clinical ontologies (SNOMED, RxNorm, ICD-10, LOINC, etc...) and health interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, USCDI) preferred
  • Experience working with real-world data sources such as EHR and claims data
  • Familiarity (able to mostly read) with common data analysis tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R). Bonus points for the ability to write in these languages, but not required.
  • Hands-on experience with terminology management systems (Symedical, Health Language, etc.)

  • . Thyme Care’s mission matters deeply to you, particularly our member experience.
  • You’re biased to action. You know how to identify and prioritize your initiative’s needs and do what it takes to ensure that urgent and important needs are acted on immediately.
  • You have a proven track record of success in scaling businesses, fast-paced environments, and startups. You understand that rapid changes to the business, strategy, organization, and priorities are par for the course.
  • . You are a subject matter expert when it comes to the identification and management of standard clinical terminologies as well as the curation of clinically oriented ontologies.
  • Your curious mindset and keen attention to detail allow you to tackle complex problems and deliver innovative solutions.

At Thyme Care, our core values guide us in everything we do: Act with our members in mind, Move with purpose, and Seek diverse perspectives. They anchor our business decisions, including how we grow, the products we make, and the paths we choose—or don’t choose.
