The Opportunity
This role is for Assistant Vice President - Data Modernization Delivery Lead in our Global Data and Analytics organization. We are in search of a seasoned and strategic-minded Delivery Lead to support data modernization efforts globally at MetLife. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the delivery of our data modernization initiatives. In this role, you will leverage your strong delivery expertise in data engineering, data platforms and to simplify, modernize our data ecosystem while enabling data for AI and self-service across MetLife. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving efficiency, reducing complexity, and enhancing interoperability across our data systems and platforms. This role demands a strategic thinker with a knack for collaborating with diverse stakeholders, influencing decision-making, and delivering pragmatic solutions.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Direct and oversee large, complex data migration and modernization initiatives to ensure seamless integration, minimal disruption, and achievement of business objectives.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and optimize resource allocation, guaranteeing adherence to project milestones and goals.
- Identify and mitigate risks across multiple projects, fostering a proactive approach to navigating complex data modernization landscapes.
- Offer senior-level guidance, leveraging extensive expertise in data management disciplines to provide invaluable policy, strategic, and operational insights.
- Oversee seamless migration to fit-for-purpose contemporary data platforms, while upholding enterprise data governance standards, through rigorous enforcement of data lineage and master data management practices.
- Foster innovation and efficiency through the implementation of DataOps and data product management principles, streamlining data delivery via automated pipelines and self-service platforms.
- Build and nurture a high-performing data modernization team equipped with the necessary skills, tools, and processes to drive success.
- Navigate complex stakeholders across all levels of the organization and cultivate strong partnerships and ensuring alignment with business needs.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 15+ years experience in data management, analytics, and emerging technologies
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role within data management with a proven track record of successful data modernization, ideally within sizable corporate environments.
- Led large-scale, intricate data transformation programs with precision, leveraging expertise in data architectures, cloud platforms, governance, and product management, honed through years of hands-on practice.
- Translate technical capabilities into strategic business advantages, deliver tangible value through the development and execution of effective data strategies.
- Apply knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and DataOps methodologies and tools to optimize data operations and workflows.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging diverse stakeholders and executive management.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and understanding of data governance frameworks.
What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
- Design and build experience of large-scale modern data platforms in Big data on Prem & Cloud
- Experience with Distributed data, computing tools and real-time data and streaming applications
- Strong knowledge of NoSQL-based data solutions, ETL/ELT pipelines, data lake house architectures
