Founded by the world’s leading emotion scientists and ML engineers, we are an empathic AI company that will fundamentally shift the paradigm of artificial intelligence and how it can positively impact human lives.
Today’s AI algorithms are optimized for user engagement metrics, such as time in-app or ad clickthrough rate. Unfortunately, these objectives are typically optimized in ways that are harmful to individuals and society. For example, social media algorithms have learned that people engage with content that distracts, frustrates, and misleads. The best way to mitigate these negative outcomes is to create AI that optimizes for our well-being by measuring and accounting for our emotional behaviors. However, technology companies lack the key tools needed to train emotionally intelligent AI: psychologically valid datasets.

To solve this far-reaching problem, our team is building novel data and machine learning resources that will change how the AI tools of the future interact with people in their everyday lives. Collecting data that is large-scale, unbiased, and rich with emotional expression (facial expressions, vocalizations, gestures, speech) requires multi-faceted skills in experimental design, data collection techniques, and emotion science.
