The best way to mitigate these negative outcomes is to create AI that optimizes for our well-being by measuring and accounting for our emotional behaviors. However, technology companies lack the key tools needed to train emotionally intelligent AI: psychologically valid datasets. To solve this far-reaching problem, our team is building novel data and machine learning resources that will change how the AI tools of the future interact with people in their everyday lives. Collecting data that is large-scale, unbiased, and rich with emotional expression (facial expressions, vocalizations, gestures, speech) requires multi-faceted skills in experimental design, data collection techniques, and emotion science. With this unique arsenal of domain expertise, we will ensure that the AI technologies we are building today serve a human-centric future.

Over the last 40 years the Conservancy has overseen the restoration of this 843-acre historic landscape, and now, under a contract with the City of New York, has complete responsibility for managing and caring for the Park and for raising the resources necessary to support that commitment. With the restoration of Central Park now largely complete, the Conservancy is committed to creating and executing a long-term plan for the stewardship of this vital urban resource into its next era.
