What can we say? We just believe in moms and dads helping moms and dads. And helping children discover the world at large by discovering their own communities - just like Mark Twain's curious explorer, Tom Sawyer. When co-founders Stephanie (a Brooklyn mom) and Marissa (a tech upstarter) started Sawyer in October 2015, they just wanted to take the research-vetting-and-check-writing burden off of parents and providers they’d see on Court Street. After all, frolicking-about should be simple, bright and beautiful. Like SAWYER.

From there, they are connected to job opportunities with SureStart industry ‘partners’ through an "always on" job fair on our platform. We’re a small, creative, tech-savvy team with a passion for technology, education, music, audiobooks and podcasts. We all love what we do. Many of us have built and exited companies at scale before, and we’re bringing that experience to the world of audio entertainment and learning for children. As a start-up, we don’t revel in office politics and endless meetings, giving you more time to focus on the more fun part of the job. Our NYC-based team is small and rapidly growing; we are all gritty, creative, hard-working...and also love a good pun, coffee (or tea!), and—as clichéd as it may be—genuinely enjoy working together. Our US office is in Brooklyn, NY with headquarters based in London, and working on a hybrid office schedule. In normal times, flexible working hours and/or remote working are standard. Many of the team are parents, and we truly understand that life and work need to work together.

However, the state resources available to them are not readily apparent, are fragmented, and are not tailored to the needs of individual children. To be clear, key state health entities like Managed Care Orgs, Children’s Health Systems, and other community resources share school caregivers' mission to keep our kids healthy. But these entities often aren’t as familiar with the day-to-day. SchoolCare connects these two key elements in children's health – school-based healthcare and state-funded clinical programs – where goals and incentives are aligned but coordination is lacking. We support these shared goals with the first truly unified digital health platform that securely connects student health information and insights with state funded resources to coordinate health services when and where they’re needed most.
