Higher Education is in crisis. The cost of education is skyrocketing, while only 33% of students in the US graduate in four years and issues of equity and access are worsening. At Coursedog, we believe Higher Ed's reliance on outdated software is the root of the problem. 75% of universities operate entirely on legacy, on-premise software, resulting in millions of frustrated students saddled with heaps of debt. The majority of colleges and universities in the US maintain disjointed academic operations workstreams that drain resources, inhibit a single source of truth, and negatively impact student outcomes. Customers that have modernized disparate legacy solutions tell us that they’re able to focus more time on students and program development vs. manually cleaning data, building custom reports, and resolving manual errors. Coursedog gives academic administrators confidence, visibility, and trust that they are executing student-centric, data-driven, cost-efficient academic operations. Coursedog has developed a suite of cloud-based academic operations modules that are fully integrated and synced with bi-directional real time SIS integrations – we are the only platform that manages schedule optimization, curriculum, and catalog management in the same interface in the cloud. Since our founding in 2018, Coursedog has partnered with ~100 Higher Education intuitions that serve over one million students. Coursedog is a Series A stage startup that has raised $23M from top investors including Y Combinator, First Round Capital, and Coatue Ventures.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted and exacerbated the longstanding and systemic disparities in educational opportunities for kids along racial and socioeconomic lines. We started Littera to enable equitable, high-quality, and cost-effect academic support for schools and districts of all sizes. We support the delivery of individual and small group tutoring sessions and make implementation easy by leveraging the curriculum and technology districts already use. Tutoring services exist, and Littera is not a traditional tutoring service. We built our platform to design programs and deliver services that make sense to each district and their students' specific learning needs.
We’re a couple of neighbors helping our neighbors. Like sharing some eggs or sugar – but in this case, we’re sharing the whole wide world of nearby kids’ classes, plus a way to access them. What can we say? We just believe in moms and dads helping moms and dads. And helping children discover the world at large by discovering their own communities - just like Mark Twain's curious explorer, Tom Sawyer. When co-founders Stephanie (a Brooklyn mom) and Marissa (a tech upstarter) started Sawyer in October 2015, they just wanted to take the research-vetting-and-check-writing burden off of parents and providers they’d see on Court Street. After all, frolicking-about should be simple, bright and beautiful. Like SAWYER.
