While the tech sector in New York City isn’t growing as quickly as the West Coast, the NYC Comptroller doesn’t necessarily see this as a bad thing. A report from the office in 2023 noted that New York City has a long history of sustaining other industries like retail and transportation, which in turn bodes well for the tech sector. Considering the tech industry is now better measured by specific roles in tech — since nearly every industry has tech teams.
“[New York City] is about as diverse and urban an economy as exists today, and one that boasts a diverse, well-educated and productive workforce,” as the report notes.

The company is hiring for several development roles but is looking for a hybrid machine learning engineer who can come into the NYC office at least twice a week.
Spring Health is a mental healthcare and insurance solution that helps businesses provide care to employees. The company’s precision mental healthcare, a clinically validated technology, offers tailored mental healthcare to users and has already partnered with over 450 businesses. An ideal candidate for the software engineer position will be ready to jump in as a leader and mentor in addition to the technical skills required for the role.
Squarespace is a design-driven platform that works to help businesses build their branding and online presence. The NYC office for Squarespace is right at home in the West Village of Manhattan. Teammates can expect an easy commute via train and have room to spread out once they arrive in the 150,000-square-foot space.
Hinge calls itself the dating app “that is meant to be deleted.” And honestly, the location of the NYC office is a great first date starting point. The office is in the Meatpacking district, a stone’s throw from the Whitney, and poised to hop on the High Line or stroll around Chelsea Market. The company is particularly growing in the data department and says data engineers will play a key role in customer experience design.
GameChanger is an athletic tech company that focuses on youth sports. The recently released product, Film Room, allows coaches to pin point specific moments in game footage to assess where the players can improve. The product allows coaches to create clips, annotate them with notes and share those clips with players. The AI within the new product cuts out things like halftime and time-outs to make reviewing the film faster for coaches.
