The Role

Blue Owl is seeking a Debt Negotiation, Vice President who will be responsible for leading complex debt negotiations across private credit and alternative financing transactions.  The Vice President will lead the review and negotiation of financing commitment papers and credit agreement documentation for complex debt financing transactions across Blue Owl’s investment platforms.  Positioned as a documentation and market‑practice expert, this role partners closely with internal deal teams and external counsel to assess and mitigate documentation risk, with a particular focus on covenant structures and key credit terms.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal deal teams and external counsel to review and negotiate critical financing documentation with a special emphasis on covenants.

  • Advise senior leadership and investment committee on deal documentation risk for each transaction.

  • Serve as internal documentation experts, including advising on recent trends and current market practice.

  •  Participate in internal educational initiatives and programs designed to teach elements of transaction structuring.

Qualifications

  • Prefer 5 years’ experience at a combination of a large law firm and a financial institution, preferably in direct lending or leveraged finance.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a JD

  • Transactional experience with sponsor leverage buyouts and corporate debt transactions.

  • Experience in working across teams in high intensity environments, with demonstrated ability to play lead roles and make decisions.

  • Sound credit analysis skills is a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail.

The base annual salary range for this New York-based position will be $200,000 to $250,000. Actual salary offered will be based on the candidate’s skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
