We are seeking a Vice President of Corporate Communications & Branding to lead a team responsible for our communications, public relations, and brand strategy efforts to align with DO’s business objectives. This role will promote, enhance and protect the organization’s brand and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms. The Vice President of Corporate Communications & Branding is responsible for developing and implementing corporate communications strategies, overseeing corporate media relations, and enhancing brand reputation through the leadership of corporate communications, public relations, brand and creative development. This individual will be an ambassador for the organization responsible for crafting narratives through the lens of the DO products and vision. They will coordinate cross-functionally and build impactful relationships with internal collaborators and external partners. The Vice President of Corporate Communications & Branding will report to the Chief Revenue Officer and partner closely with DO’s executive leadership team.

  • Develop comprehensive communication strategies aligned with DigitalOcean’s overall business objectives.
  • Implement strategies to enhance brand awareness and reputation among key stakeholders including customers, partners, investors, employees, and the public.
  • Develop messaging and brand positioning that articulates the brand's unique value proposition and messaging framework across multiple communication channels. Ensure consistency and alignment across brand marketing campaigns, social media, PR initiatives, internal communications, and employment focused initiatives.
  • Anticipate challenges and emerging issues. Develop proactive strategies and protocols for managing and mitigating potential reputation risks and crisis situations. Serve as the primary spokesperson and media liaison during crisis events, ensuring timely and transparent communication with necessary constituents.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of brand strategies to strengthen brand positioning and equity.
  • Maintain strong brand consistency across all touchpoints, including positioning, messaging, visual identity, and brand guidelines. Ensure DO’'s value propositions are clearly communicated to target audiences.
  • Keep on top of design and AI trends including best practices; constantly leading the team to innovate.

  • Manage relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure positive coverage and manage crisis communications effectively.
  • Leverage both traditional and innovative new channels to deliver messages in an authentic, effective way that reaches our developer audience.
  • Manage global PR agencies.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization when necessary.

  • Oversee the organization's digital presence and social media strategy to drive engagement and enhance brand visibility.
  • Monitor social media channels for reputation management and brand sentiment.

  • Provide strategic counsel and support to senior executives on communication matters, including speech writing, presentations and building a social presence.

  • Manage the budget for the corporate communications and branding function, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and return on investment.

  • Recruit and manage a communications team to support the development and execution of the communications strategy.
  • Promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree may be preferred.Proven experience (typically 15+ years) in strategic communications, in house or agency, with experience in technology, global and public company settings. Ability to think strategically and contribute to the organization’s long-term goals.Inspire and motivate a team towards achieving excellence in communication and branding.Uphold ethical standards and represent the organization with honesty and transparency.Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and drive innovation in communication strategies.

While the philosophy around our benefits is the same worldwide, specific benefits may vary based on local regulations and preferences.
  •  The salary range for this position isbetween$250,000 - $280,000 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
