Job Description
The Valuation Control Group (VCG) provides independent verification of the initial Front Office estimates of fair value and the framework for various adjustments to ensure that the Firm's final estimate of fair value comply with US GAAP. The group sets policy for reserves and pricing methodologies through interaction with Front Office and other stakeholders such as Model Risk Governance & Review, Market/Credit Risk, Product Control and Corporate Accounting Policy.

As a Valuation Controller Vice President in Private Equity within the Valuation Control Group (VCG), you will provide independent verification of the initial Front Office estimates of fair value and the framework for various adjustments to ensure that the Firm's final estimate of fair value comply with US GAAP. The group sets policy for reserves and pricing methodologies through interaction with Front Office and other stakeholders such as Model Risk Governance & Review, Market/Credit Risk, Product Control and Corporate Accounting Policy. This VCG has a broad mandate with responsibilities to execute an independent valuation oversight of the firm's banking book portfolios as well as the strategic and opportunistic investments in private equity portfolios. The scope of coverage includes (but not limited to) loans, securities, deposits, and private investments under various stages of business development.

  • Interface with internal (front office, middle office, back office, accounting policy, research, technology) and external partners to collect market data, perform research, and obtain comparable pricing information to determine/calculate fair value
  • Execute many ad-hoc research inquiries from senior management, across all products in the scope of coverage
  • Maintain a close relationship with our business partners, to ensure accuracy of analysis and availability of all transaction information
  • Be responsible for key reporting deliverable



  • 6+ years of experience and Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other related area
  • Working knowledge of private equity valuation experience
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to observe and interpret
  • Keen eye for potential control deficiencies and desire/ability to rectify and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong Excel, Access, PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to work in pressure oriented environment with tight recurring deadlines (mid month, month end, quarter end, year end, regulatory, audit)
  • Ability to seek efficiencies in work, leveraging VCG and the firm
  • Teamwork oriented, ability to work across management hierarchy
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and develop knowledge of the Private Equity and valuation role



  • Knowledge of Bloomberg and CAPIQ (is a plus otherwise will be required to learn)
  • Knowledge of Alteryx and Tableau a plus but not required
