Hinge is the dating app designed to be deleted

In today's digital world, finding genuine relationships is tougher than ever. At Hinge, we’re on a mission to inspire intimate connection to create a less lonely world. We’re obsessed with understanding our users’ behaviors to help them find love, and our success is defined by one simple metric– setting up great dates. With tens of millions of users across the globe, we’ve become the most trusted way to find a relationship, for all.

About the role

Hinge is hiring a UX Researcher to join the Trust & Safety Internal Tools team to conduct and communicate research that improves the internal and end user experience, and drives product excellence.

In this role, the UX researcher will conduct qualitative and quantitative research to inform the development of community tools that allow Hinge to effectively moderate content, respond to escalations, handle appeals, provide customer support, and more. This role is essential to ensure our customer support and other operations teams have the necessary tools and capabilities to deliver exceptional user experiences and keep our users safe.

Responsibilities

  • Develop research strategies and own end-to-end research, focusing on how to improve and innovate on internal tools used by our Trust & Safety operations teams to ensure Hinge agents are able to provide best in class customer support.
  • Employ quantitative and qualitative methods including usability testing for design explorations, conducting interviews, developing surveys, and analyzing user feedback.
  • Partner with Trust & Safety Operations team leaders to scope out the problem space and create a research roadmap
  • Work collaboratively with other researchers, product team members (i.e., product managers and designers) and cross-functional partners (i.e., data science, customer support) to identify key research questions and prioritize projects in the short and long term.
  • Generate actionable insights and communicate them in compelling and creative ways; bridge alignment across Hinge teams through written reports and live presentations to cross-functional partners.

About You

  • 2+ years of user research experience in a product research role.
  • An interest in research with internal users and optimizing internal tools for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Passion for centering marginalized and vulnerable communities in the pursuit of advocating for equitable user experiences.
  • Mixed method research experience including quantitative (e.g., survey, experimental) and qualitative (e.g., interviews, usability testing) methods.
  • Passionate and curious about how user research can be leveraged to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of internal tooling, with the end goal of keeping users safe
  • Strong communicator, committed to telling clear and compelling stories with data.
  • Proficient in data manipulation and analysis
  • Dedicated to building trusting, successful partnerships with cross-functional partners (e.g. data science, customer experience, product management, design, engineering, marketing.)
  • Eager to learn from and collaborate with other researchers.
  • Critically thinks about inclusivity both in terms of collaborating and in terms of research and product design.

What We Do

In today’s digital world, singles are so focused on sending likes and looking through profiles that they’re not actually building meaningful connections and going on dates. Hinge is on a mission to change that by designing the most effective app experience. On Hinge, there are no rules, timers, or games. Instead, you’ll have unique conversations over the text, photos, and audio you’ve shared on your profile. And it’s resonating with daters. Hinge was the fastest-growing dating app in the US, UK, Canada and Australia in 2019 and 2020.

Our Culture:
- Authenticity: Share your genuine thoughts and opinions directly.
- Courage: Invite and deeply consider challenges and criticism.
- Empathy: Be empathetic, communitarian and trustworthy.

Why Work With Us

We're mission-driven. While most apps think about boosting sessions and time on app, we think strategically about meaningful end results (dates and relationships).

We're culture-first. We believe in great people over process. Decisions are pushed to the front lines, with feedback and coaching provided by our leaders.
