The Opportunity
As an Underwriting Life Quality Assurance Analyst, you will appraise underwritten applications for life insurance. You'll assess mortality risks within company guidelines to assure equitable treatment of policyholders and producers and to meet the company's financial objectives. Provides coaching and mentoring to production underwriters to strengthen underwriting acumen and guidelines. Incumbent's time may consist of appraising and underwriting applications for insurance to assess mortality and/or morbidity risk within company guidelines to assure equitable treatment of policyholders and producers and to meet the company's financial objectives.
The Team
This is a remote position so candidates must be comfortable working from home. Candidates must be self-motivated and disciplined and also be comfortable working independently. Must be able to communicate and maintain working relationships via email, phone and chat.
The Impact:

  • Responsible for the effective development and implementation of advanced quality programs to ensure that all products and services meet minimum business standards and requirements.
  • Conduct quality reviews for Life insurance underwriting.
  • Perform Quality Review of Underwriter's risk and non-risk decisions to ensure that decisions for mortality and morbidity follow company guidelines, and that the company receives adequate premiums commensurate with the risk
  • Adherence to monthly glide path dates to deliver results on time and with quality
  • Log and track performance underwriting results in Maestro QA
  • Perform quality reviews of the business to ensure that all products and services meet minimum business standards and requirements.
  • Document findings provide coaching to the underwriters and make recommendations to facilitate continuous improvements to guidelines and processes.
  • Develop problem management process including monitoring and reporting on problem resolution. Plan and perform research and analysis of problems/processes to create workable solutions.
  • Evaluate and model business needs through the uses of analytical and statistical techniques and tools. Develop and design data collection capability and perform trend analysis in order to provide recommendations that will help to close skill and service gaps. Lead collaborative efforts with training area to revise quality initiatives and implement new ones.
  • May create and deliver quality training programs. Develop and maintain quality scorecards. Identify and assist in developing a digital solution for QA.
  • Incumbent's time may consist of appraising and underwriting applications for insurance to assess mortality risk within company guidelines to assure equitable treatment of policyholders and producers and to meet the company's financial objectives.
  • Provides guidance to the field force and home office staff regarding underwriting problems and requirements. Underwrites individual products only.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of life underwriting experience
  • Minimum $3 million authority limit
  • 8+ years of experience auditing in life and disability insurance underwriting.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of underwriting individual life products.
  • Minimum approval limit of $5 million. Approves, classified and declines application on own signature.
  • Exams completed toward industry designations i.e. AALU/FALU, FLMI, etc.
  • Positive, inclusive, agile and collaborative mindset
  • Ability to partner with Underwriting Leadership team
  • Collaborative team player will serve as coach for development of our Underwriters by providing real-time feedback

Salary Range: $110,400.00-$144,900.00
