Dotdash Meredith is looking for a versatile full time Studio Assistant that wants to work on everything that goes into a photography production. Depending on the priority of the project this role would be lending hands to the photographer, stylist or producer of the shoot. The ideal candidate would have a personality that welcomes different challenges, is eager to learn, and has the ability to problem solve and pivot with priorities. Working knowledge of studio lighting with Profoto lights, Canon camera systems, and Capture One are required. A degree in photography is a bonus, but not required. If you do not have a photography degree then some on-set experience is preferred.

In-office Expectations: This position is fully in-office due to the nature of the work being done.

Essential Job Functions

Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results: 

30% Assist the photographer on set with equipment and whatever help they may need. 

30% Assist the stylist with keeping props clean and organized on and off set. Help create sets with the stylist prior to shoots.

30% Assist producers with any production needs such as handling deliveries, messengers, catering, etc. 

10% Be a sponge. Absorb everything you can from the people you work with and apply knowledge to the job.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

  • Willingness to adapt to different brands' needs. 

  • A strong technical background in photography: Knowledge of studio lighting (Profoto), Canon camera digital systems, fluent in Capture One

  • Intermediate level knowledge of Photoshop for light on set editing, cropping, and resizing

  • Experience with Google Suite and Air Table is a plus, but not required.

  • A healthy obsession with organization

  • A can-do attitude and willingness to adjust with priorities

  • A creative mind that will contribute to collaborative problem solving

  • Ability to commute to NYC studios 5 days a week

  • A degree in Photography or similar study or 2+ years assisting in freelance or full-time capacity
