But in healthcare, patients lack market power. Which means they are expected to accept the unacceptable.
Zocdoc’s mission is to give power to the patient. To do that, we’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace that makes it easy to find and book in-person or virtual care in all 50 states, across +200 specialties and +12k insurance plans. By giving patients the ability to see and choose, we give them power. Your Impact on our Mission

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will partner with our Co-Founder as well as some of our most senior and tenured engineers on a new initiative and fast growing product - an AI-based voice agent that answers inbound phone calls to hospitals and doctor's offices. We believe great engineers can learn AI, which is why we're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who's excited about growing into AI development. No prior AI experience required – we'll provide on the job experience and mentorship. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced software engineer to transition into AI development while working with a specialized team within Zocdoc.
Your day to day is…
- Building and maintaining high-quality software that will gradually incorporate AI capabilities
- Learning how to work with LLM’s while continuing to deliver solid engineering work
- Designing scalable, maintainable applications using modern software practices
- Collaborating with Zocdoc’s most talented engineers to learn and gradually take on AI-related projects
- Contributing to the end to end development of consumer facing products
- Building products designed to scale quickly
You’ll be successful in this role if you have…
- 6+ years of professional software development experience with a strong proficiency in C#
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- An ownership mindset and a proven track record of learning new technologies quickly
- Enthusiasm and passion for learning AI/ML technologies
- Analytical horsepower and a natural curiosity
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Zocdoc is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Salary ranges are determined through alignment with market data. Base salary offered is determined by a number of factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills. Certain positions are also eligible for variable pay and/or equity; your recruiter will discuss the full compensation package details.
NYC Base Salary Range
$176,000—$264,000 USD
