The Role
SoFi's Risk Management team has responsibility for ensuring growth in lending and other member related activities are consistent with the company's risk appetite. The team holistically manages enterprise, credit, deposit products, fraud prevention, portfolio management, infrastructure, and business operating risks. In addition, Risk Management directly manages enterprise partners, ensures strong compliance with regulations, acts as a multi-layered second line of defense in oversight of business operations, and works to ensure risk policies enable a member-first experience.
What you'll do:
The Staff Fraud Analyst, Risk Data will help SoFi develop better data driven fraud decisioning and performance management infrastructure by taking the responsibilities in the areas of:

  • Data and Database Management:
    • Aggregate and synthesize data sets from multiple data sources
    • Define and integrate all type of data needs ( raw data, features and so on) for Member Security
  • Metrics Infrastructure Development:
    • Define and develop metrics infrastructure to forecast, monitor and evaluate holistic performance of fraud risk management at all levels
    • Work with cross-functional teams to get the alignment of metrics, data trends and their insights
    • Work with business teams, operations, and product teams to improve overall fraud risk management performance by providing loss forecasting, performance metrics, business impact analysis and fraud trend insights.
    • Develop metrics dashboard( both data and visualized formats) based on both regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Loss Forecasting Models: Build loss forecasting models to make sure both proactive and reactive loss controls are effective. Know how to iteratively improve models.
  • Goals and Benchmark Setups: Support to set up performance goals and benchmarks for managing member security
  • Business Insights Analysis and Communication:
    • Work with Risk Strategy, Product and Operations to consolidate business insights for metrics changes
    • Provide deep analysis on metrics changes and actionable improvements for Risk Product, Process and Policy
    • Communicate metrics, dashboards and insights with different levels of stakeholders on a regular basis.


What you'll need:

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, Math or Economics.
  • Very strong data technical skills on databases, Excel/SQL/Python and data dashboard tools.
  • Able to use different types of data to define business needs
  • Highly motivated to drive change, eager to learn and create new things from scratch and able to work collaboratively in a complex and fluid environment.
  • Experience of developing business or risk loss forecasting models.
  • Experience of developing analysis structure using different data sources and analytical methods to meet business needs.
  • Capability of defining and building business metrics and dashboard infrastructures and know how to automate the manual process to improve efficiency.
  • Able to connect the dots between data and businesses to provide meaningful insights and actionable enhancements.
  • Knows how to troubleshoot data and metrics gaps and be innovative to solve both technical and business problems
  • Very strong communication skills by connecting the dots with the big picture with data and facts to support the story.

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and location.
