Job Description

As a Staff Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting small business clients, preparing financial statements, managing multiple client accounts, and providing assistance with payroll and accounting software. Working closely with an account manager, you'll help shape the financial success of our clients while embracing our culture of continuous improvement. 

Responsibilities:

Financial Statement Preparation: 

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual prepared financial statements for small business clients. 

Client Management: 

  • Manage multiple clients, assisting with accounting, payroll, and basic software issues. 
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication. 

Customer Service Excellence: 

  • Provide exceptional customer service with a focus on timely follow-through. 
  • Meet weekly and monthly reporting deadlines and goals. 

Practice Management: 

  • Maintain accurate practice management reports and handle sensitive business matters confidentially. 

Collaboration: 

  • Work collaboratively across departments, including IT, payroll processing, tax preparation, and consulting. 

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements to management. 
  • Attend training sessions to enhance skills and share knowledge with the team. 

Technology and Research: 

  • Stay updated on new accounting techniques and technologies, applying them to client work. 

Goal Achievement and Firm Culture: 

  • Actively participate in achieving individual, departmental, and firm goals. 
  • Embrace and support the firm’s vision and core values. 

Qualifications

Experience and Qualifications 

  • Education: Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred but not required. 
  • Experience: 1-3 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or related experience preferred, but enthusiastic learners are welcome to apply. 
  • QuickBooks: Strong proficiency with QuickBooks (preferably QuickBooks Online). Certifications are a plus or must be obtained. 
  • Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook) and adaptability to new technologies. 
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Additional Information

Compensation: Depending on experience, starting at $24/hour with a commission incentive when commission exceeds the hourly rate.
