The Squarespace Domains group is looking for a Backend Engineer! Our group's products offer customers the tools to establish the foundation of their digital presence. The teams are focused on building new features to allow customers to do more with their domains. This is a hybrid role working from our New York City office 3 days per week. You will report to the Engineering Team Manager.
We are hiring for the following product teams:
- Domains Product: The Domains product team is responsible for the entire Domain lifecycle from purchase, management to renewals. They aim to build a customer experience that is intuitive, performant and empowers customers with all levels of understanding of domains to manage their domains with ease.
- Growth: The Growth team is responsible for the top-of-the-funnel growth of all the products within the Domains group. This team owns the search experience on our frontsite, the pricing strategy and the conversion across all products.
You'll Get To…
- Practice disciplined software engineering, writing server-side code, create high-volume production applications, and developing prototypes quickly.
- You will lead the development of new features and build backend services with Java.
- Collaborate with other engineers and designers to provide intuitive customer-focused experiences.
Who We're Looking For
- 5+ years of development experience in Java, Python, Go or another Object-oriented language. Experience developing large-scale software.
- A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design practices.
- A sincere commitment to creating readable code and an understanding of database schema design, caching and scalability.
- A degree in Computer Science or related or equivalent industry experience.

Cash Compensation Range: $110,500 - 199,500 USD
The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.
In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
