The Role

The New York Times is looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to join our Delivery Engineering (DV) Mission to improve developer experience for all NYT Developers. You will guide the development of services on AWS and GCP cloud platforms, be responsible for infrastructure improvements, and develop developer experiences to enhance the resiliency of NYT experiences across all platforms.

Delivery Engineering supports 500 engineers across 90 product engineering teams within the Times. These teams develop a range of experiences, from interactive newsroom tools to storytelling and publishing platforms, and standalone products like Games and Cooking. Our goal is to empower all product engineering teams to focus on delivering new features without worrying about infrastructure complexities.

As a Senior Technical Product Manager, you'll play a key part in building a best-in-class cloud engineering experience for all NYT developers. You'll collaborate with a diverse product team focused on developer experience to define, develop, and launch innovative cloud infrastructure solutions. You will report to the Vice President of Product, Developer Experience. This role is based in our Times Square office in New York City.

  • Lead the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for cloud compute, application runtime and networking infrastructure, identifying opportunities and alignment with user needs, technical capabilities, and our goals.

  • Employ user feedback and platform metrics to drive system designs and product prioritization.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences launches, roadmap status, and platform performance across the organization.

  • Scope technical requirements and write product briefs and specifications with Github, JIRA, and other tools.

  • Oversee and communicate performance metrics and provide insight to lead product development recommendations.

  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

  • 5+ years of relevant product management experience.

  • 5+ years of technical experience.

  • Experience launching and managing cloud-based products (e.g. AWS, GCP).

  • Experience with cloud networking concepts (e.g. Ingress, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), and DNS).

  • Experience with application and container runtimes like Kubernetes and related cloud-hosted versions like EKS.

  • Familiarity with cloud native concepts and best practices (e.g., IaaS, PaaS, containers, or serverless computing).

  • Experience with software development processes, tools, and technologies.

  • Experience communicating product updates, milestones, and progress to internal and external partners, with the ability to collaborate with multiple engineering teams.

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

The annual base pay range for this role is between:

$140,000$160,000 USD
