The Role

Pragma, a MarketAxess company, is looking for an additional member of its Trading Systems Engineering team to focus on the development of Pragma’s next generation, flexible, low-latency trading platform. Trading Systems Engineers are designing and developing new functionality for Pragma’s trading platform.

How You'll Help Take Us There

  • Design and develop major new functionality for Pragma’s next generation trading platform
  • Author and edit documentation, present on technical topics
  • Contribute to software design, code reviews, technical meetings
  • Interact with the business helping to define and enhance the system

What We’re Looking for  

  • 10+ years of experience writing trading platforms including order management systems, order gateways, and market data systems
  • Prior experience designing important functionality that required at least a man year to execute
  • Deep knowledge of Java 17+ and preferably Java 21+
  • Still devoting 75% of your time to hands on development
  • Development experience on a sequencer-based system
  • Able to design and deliver long-term sustainable and product-focused software
  • Have broad areas of interest within technology and the trading business and keep up with current software engineering trends
  • A team player that can articulate technical viewpoints and engage in healthy debate with others
  • Strong attention to detail in both written and verbal communication.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $250,000 USD to $300,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity, and other benefit programs.
