We are looking for founding engineers to kick start a new team within our Platform Automation organization, focused on building interfaces to our control plane backend systems. Platform Automation is a group within our Distributed Data Systems (DDS) organization that develops our major distributed data platforms that power the Datadog user experience. Platform Automation is working closely with our Distributed Data Systems teams to consolidate our common tooling into a reliable shared platform on which to build and operate our systems. Our vision is to create a world in which there is minimal operational overhead to easily run systems at scale through automation and easy to use interfaces.
The Control Panel team will build products and solutions that enable our customers (eg. the platform teams) to efficiently scale and manage the distributed control planes that power their platforms scalability needs. We are looking for nimble, pragmatic product oriented engineers that can work directly with DDS teams and design to deliver MVPs, seek feedback and iterate. As one of the initial members of this team, you will play a pivotal role in architecting and implementing solutions that enhance the management and operation of our platform.
What You'll Do:

  • Unify new and existing tools into a cohesive ecosystem that enhances integration, access, and discoverability for all engineers across the DDS organization.
  • Develop browser and CLI interfaces with a strong focus on UX and intuitive user flows.
  • Work with Engineering teams across DDS to understand their platform needs, existing tooling gaps, and provide solutions bridging the two.
  • Work across the stack and collaborate with teams across Datadog to deliver new features from start-to-finish
  • Mentor junior team members and interns.

Who You Are:

  • You have deep experience with front end development and technologies as well as working with backend APIs
  • You thrive in ambiguous situations and look to generate outcomes
  • You have a keen sense of customer empathy and a sense of intellectual curiosity
  • You want to work on a fast moving team and help ship a brand new product from 0 to 1
