About the Role

The New York Times is looking for a Senior QA Manager in the Games Mission to lead the Quality Assurance team.

You will report to the Head of Engineering for the Games Mission, closely working with Engineering, Product and Production and overseeing the QA strategy, automation tooling and product delivery across all the squads. This is a hybrid role based in our New York City headquarters. You can typically expect to come into the office twice a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of QA leads & engineers to ensure KPI-driven software quality

  • Use a combination of automated and manual testing techniques that ensure high-quality software delivery across mobile apps, web and backend apis

  • Coordinate with Mobile apps leadership for release management

  • Establish and maintain QA metrics and reporting dashboards

  • Collaborate with engineering to incorporate testing within the CI/CD pipelines

  • Collaborate with other QA leaders across NYT for shared best practices

  • In-depth and updated  industry knowledge of software testing methodologies and automation frameworks

  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as QA Engineer ensuring high quality delivery of complex projects spanning multiple platforms

  • 2+ years of experience managing a team of QA engineers

  • Extensive experience with Test Automation Frameworks e.g. XCUI, Espresso, Appium, Playwright, Webdriver.IO

  • Experience working with cross functional stakeholders and multiple engineering teams with varying skill sets


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience handling mobile apps release management

  • Experience leading globally distributed teams of QA engineers

The annual base pay range for this role is between:

$176,000$193,000 USD
