Grubhub Design is looking for a talented Senior Product Designer to join the Monetization team. You will join a team of world-class designers with a passion for bringing hungry bellies together with local restaurants and merchants. You will be joining a team of design leaders that will not only shape our products but our people and the way we design and build at Grubhub.
In this role, you will leverage your expertise in design thinking, user research, and prototyping to develop effective solutions for our Offers, Pricing, and Ad Management initiatives. Your work will provide value to customers and enable Grubhub's restaurant and merchant partners to promote their businesses to diners throughout various stages of the user funnel.

Our design team is close-knit and highly collaborative - combining research, data and critique to inform design decisions that impact and shape products into highly usable and successful experiences. As a Senior Product Designer at Grubhub you will guide teams through complex problem spaces and ensure we're solving the right problems with effective and elegant solutions. You'll coach, mentor and encourage designers at Grubhub - helping the folks on the team to deliver their best work and have fun doing it. You are super detail oriented, organized and know how to keep a team moving at pace. Your communication skills are strong and you are able to facilitate and mobilize cross-functional efforts. You have a passion for shipping great design work and your enthusiasm for the work you do gets others around you excited and motivated to deliver.
The Impact You'll Make:

  • Advocate for our restaurant users in all design decisions while collaborating with the product, engineering, and design teams
  • Turn everything from nebulous concepts to specific ideas into useful, delightful product features
  • Design holistic systems, flows and interfaces that are simple, elegant, and beautiful
  • Lead mid-level project work from a design perspective with autonomy and authority, facilitating design studios and working sessions to help the teams deliver the best possible solutions
  • Develops others through feedback, mentoring
  • Advocate for the customer in all decisions with the product, engineering, and design teams
  • Draw insights from the work of our talented research team and know how to turn those insights into tangible solutions
  • Partner with product, engineering, and the members of the design and research teams to oversee the user experience of a product from conception until launch
  • Proactively communicates status of work with team, manager & partners, requests support where needed
  • Evaluates pros and cons, risks and benefits of different solution options, leveraging quantitative and qualitative data
  • Seeks ways to improve processes & practices and contributes these back to the larger design org
  • Makes thoughtful and data driven suggestions for improvements to existing features, and new features
  • Provides candid, constructive feedback and critique and proactively seeks feedback without being defensive
  • Continually works to grow their understanding of how their domain fits into the work of other teams

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 4+ years of experience as an in-house Product Designer focused on consumer B2C brands with a focus on complex flows and use cases
  • Experience in user-facing industries such as eCommerce, technology or multi-sided marketplaces
  • BA/BS required, with a focus on computer science or mathematics preferred
  • Applied experience with service design practices and a practice of constantly evolving your design process
  • Applied experience working across all digital and physical manifestations of what we design - from responsive web to native applications to the next technological leap
  • Extensive understanding of prototyping methodologies and practices, user research methodologies and A/B test planning/execution
  • A passion for mentoring designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver a better, more user-centered product
  • An acute self-awareness and deep empathy - for both the customer and your team's goals
  • Excellent communication and data visualization skills. You can bring internal stakeholders on your design journey and support your decisions with focus and brevity
  • Experience with either front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), or using prototyping tools that approximate them
  • A deep curiosity and ability to consider product strategy and vision. You don't just care about "how it looks," or "what we should design," but "why are we designing this at all?
  • Requires little supervision and takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions, and failures, acting with a clear sense of ownership
  • Understands business objectives to solve highly abstract problems and uncover unidentified ones based on their advanced understanding of UX, information architecture, and interaction design principles
  • Understands how to leverage a design system to efficiently solve user problems. Provides feedback to improve and add components and patterns
  • Excels in sketching, wireframing, advanced prototyping in Figma and beginning to build out presentations to outline design perspective
  • Excels with design fundamentals like grid-based layout, compositional hierarchy, and color use
  • Considers key accessibility principles like color and dynamic type when designing

New York Salary Range: $132,500 - 198,500
The Base Pay component of our Total Rewards package is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: job responsibilities, location, experience and, education/certifications. In addition to the pay component, this role may be eligible for equity and benefits as part of the Total Rewards package. The Total Rewards package will be determined at the time a contingent offer is made.
