Job Description
The Infatuation is hiring a senior editor to lead our expanding national restaurant and trends coverage.
As a Senior Editor, National in The Infatuation (CDJ), you'll lead the charge on our national content, covering restaurants and dining trends around the country. We're looking for a sharp and creative editor who's excited to experiment and pitch new, fresh ideas on how to write about going out to eat. You should be deeply knowledgeable, opinionated, and curious about food, dining trends, restaurants, and bars around the country, and have a vision for how to cover those topics in new and exciting ways. While your primary focus will not be writing reviews, this role requires a critic's approach to develop opinionated and thematic guides, newsletters, and other stories. You will report to the Editorial Director, Expansion.
Job Responsibilities

  • Work with editorial leadership to set a national content strategy
  • Develop clear funny, smart content franchises across platforms that tap into multiple destinations nationwide
  • Lead the execution of national content from start to finish; this includes a mix of writing content yourself, editing the work of Infatuation staff, or assigning to freelancers
  • Work cross-functionally on distribution of national content; you'll partner with our social team on bringing this content to life in fun and entertaining ways
  • Oversee national newsletter programming and strategy and author content as needed
  • Unearth dining trends across the country, and own the process of thematically packaging them
  • Identify staff and freelance writers around the country to fill in content gaps
  • Partner with editorial leadership on tentpoles and special projects, like theme weeks and our annual Best New Restaurants package

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 5+ years of editing experience, with a proven track record of publishing fun and opinionated dining content
  • Extensive knowledge about restaurants and dining trends around the country and big ideas on how to cover these topics in fresh, funny, and nuanced ways
  • Experience at a restaurant or culture publication, or experience covering those topics. You actively consume this content day-to-day
  • An informed and inclusive perspective on restaurants- you're the person who's always asked for recommendations on where to go and what to eat
  • The ability to project manage your own vision and bring the wider team together to contribute

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience in food, beverage, or general lifestyle writing
  • Openness and willingness to try a wide variety of menu items and cuisines
