ABOUT THE ROLE
Peloton is looking for a Senior Counsel, Employment Law attorney with 7+ years of experience to join our Global Employment Law team. In this role, you will join a team of attorneys and legal professionals dedicated to supporting the legal needs of our People (HR) team and other internal clients across all locations and departments on a wide variety of matters that arise within our workforce. The role will be based out of our New York City headquarters office and will be required to follow our hybrid policy. Currently, hybrid Team Members report to the office weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
- Working in partnership with our People and Team Member Relations teams, advise on a broad spectrum of labor and employment law matters, including: recruitment and hiring; compensation and benefits; employee relations; performance management and discipline; investigations; leaves of absence and accommodation; wage and hour issues; discrimination and harassment; and termination
- Provide counsel on complex/critical employment matters and help resolve matters through pre-dispute resolution and/or positioning Peloton for potential employment litigation/arbitration
- Manage outside counsel, and/or handle directly, all aspects of employment law disputes, including administrative EEO charges, discovery, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, and arbitration or trial preparation as needed
- Working as an individual contributor, serve as a trusted advisor to the People Team and global business partners to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of scalable and compliant team policies, procedures, and trainings relating to the employee lifecycle
- Negotiate and draft employment-related agreements, templates, and key documents (e.g., employment, consulting, and separation agreements, etc.)
- Collaborate with other subject matter experts on the broader legal team to deliver advice and counsel arising in commercial, litigation, IP and other matters
- Research relevant labor, employment, and compliance topics and stay current on developments in the law and evolving best practices; develop and update corporate policies and practices as needed
- Create and/or lead training on global employment law issues
- Support internal clients across jurisdictions and time zones
- Other duties as assigned
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
- 7+ years of legal experience handling employment law matters; prior in-house experience preferred
- Significant employment law litigation and counseling experience, and demonstrated understanding of all aspects of employment law, including leave and accommodations laws, wage and hour issues, matters relating to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and workplace investigations
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to simplify complicated legal concepts into English for your business partners at all levels of the organization
- Strong discernment and a creative problem solver
- Outstanding critical thinking skills, with the ability to review novel issues, provide analysis and assess risk
- Experience developing policies and process improvements
- Excellent judgment
- In addition to following our current hybrid work policy, flexibility to be present occasionally at a physical Peloton or other location, in NYC or otherwise, based on team or business needs
- JD from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in a US jurisdiction
- Some experience with employee benefits, executive compensation and/or traditional labor law is a plus

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our New York City headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes. Base Salary Range
$208,766—$281,834 USD
