Senior Client Platform Engineer

Fastly is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Client Platform Engineer to play a critical role in shaping the future of our end-user computing environment.  You will be a key contributor in designing, implementing, and managing the technology that empowers our employees to do their best work. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on productivity, collaboration, and innovation across the entire organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and secure end-user devices: Handle operating systems, software deployments, and security configurations for laptops, and mobile devices
  • Automate system administration: As a champion of DevOps principles, you'll proactively identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and secure our macOS environment
  • Ensure a secure environment: Collaborate with security teams to implement security measures and respond to incidents
  • Troubleshoot complex issues: Act as an escalation point for technical problems related to end-user devices and applications
  • Evaluate new technologies: Research and recommend new client platform solutions to enhance productivity and security
  • Maintain documentation: Create and update technical documentation for system configurations and troubleshooting

What We're Looking For: 

  • Relevant experience: 7-10 years of progressive experience in IT, with a focus on client platform engineering, systems administration, or a related field
  • Educational background: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Experience with client management tools: Experience with MDM solutions, osquery for endpoint security, and Git/GitHub for collaborative configuration management and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Scripting skills in Python are essential for automating tasks and extending system capabilities
  • Strong OS knowledge: Deep understanding of macOS and iOS operating systems, including system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Security awareness: Solid understanding of security best practices for endpoint devices, including endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and incident response

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

  • You're a macOS imaging guru with experience using tools like AutoDMG or Munki
  • You're passionate about security and have knowledge of frameworks like NIST and CIS
  • You're an active contributor to the open-source community or love sharing your macOS expertise

Work Hours: 

  • This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

Salary: 

The estimated salary range for this position is $129,470 to $179,820.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
