THE ROLE
We’re looking for a boundary-pushing, collaborative and highly experienced Senior Art Director to join the brand team at Mack Weldon. Reporting to the VP of Brand, this role will oversee our holistic design and art direction — from concept through to execution—ensuring all brand visual touch points are executed in a creative, thoughtful, and goal-oriented manner. The ideal candidate has a strong design and conceptual background, is self-motivated, inspirational, and maintains high personal standards with an exceptional understanding of all marketing channels.
- Brand, editorial, campaign concepting: In partnership with the VP of Brand, lead concepting for key marketing initiatives, including brand campaigns, editorial projects, and partnerships. Put the brand creative direction and identity at the core of ideas as we continue to grow and expand our footprint in the world. Establish our brand as a leading creative presence, and execute against briefs that align with our brand and business goals.
- Video and photo production oversight: Lead production development, preparing for successful and efficient production of our brand assets. Liaise with external partners where necessary and keep our brand vision, and overall standards, consistent throughout. A network of potential partners – preferred photographers, videographers, stylists etc. would be a plus. Provide oversight for Design team in the execution of further production needs.
- Design oversight: Oversee the creation of assets across all brand channels, providing direction, inspiration and guidance to ensure the overall brand look and feel is maintained across a range of campaigns, product launches, and day to day creative assets. Maintain our brand guidelines hosted on Standards, consisting of brand guideline and photography guidelines.
- Team development: Provide inspiration, direction, and mentorship for creative team generally, and designers specifically. Be a positive team influence and champion the growth and development of team members.
- Presentation, collaboration: Cross-functional collaboration with other teams across Mack Weldon – representing our creative direction and campaign look and feel with other key stakeholders, guiding the implementation of channel assets with channel owners, and presenting creative ideas confidently in leadership environments.
- Own brand look & feel: Provide pro-active direction and leadership over our brand identity, as expressed through visual touchpoints. Including owning our current brand design guidelines, oversight of casting, photo direction, and general look & feel as our brand continues to grow and evolve, in line with the brand marketing strategy outlined by the Brand Marketing team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years experience in brand creative direction with an emphasis in design and art direction—agency experience a plus.
- Startup, direct-to-consumer and/or e-commerce experience preferred.
- A compelling graphic design and art direction portfolio of distinctive work that elevates a brand’s creative experience.
- Expertise in Figma, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign required. Knowledge of other Adobe Creative Suite, Asana, Google Docs, Sketch/Zeplin, Dropbox is a plus.
- Experience leading photo and video production.
- Strong business acumen – creates with an eye towards results while pushing the brand forward.
- Extensive knowledge of channel best practices—you never push creative work forward at the expense of business goals.
- Proven experience working cross-functionally with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment where deadlines, priorities, and initiatives change frequently—stability means you’re not innovating.
- Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to clearly and articulately explain your rationale and evoke excitement with your recommendations.

- Salary range of $130,000 - $180,000 *This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this NYC - based position. The base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other MW employees.
