Working as part of a cross functional team, you deliver the RDQ activities required to complete new product development, portfolio maintenance and/or productivity projects with an emphasis on meeting the desired consumer experience.
How you will contribute
With the support and guidance of a manager, you will organize and execute projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements and development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation etc.). You will also write technical reports that will require the analysis and interpretation of results and that lead to conclusions and recommendations and create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications.

Working in the NA Innovation team to deliver the R&D Cross Brand Innovation agenda for product development. Scope of work includes Sweet and/or Savory Innovation ranging from Line extensions to new technologies, as well as Brand maintenance for the new sub-brands created, including quality improvements, BCP, productivity.

What you need to know about this position:
With the support and guidance of your manager and technical experts, you will leverage your technical and executional knowledge gathered thus far to effectively drive the Innovation agenda. You will execute projects as part of a cross functional team, ensuring RDQ processes and requirements are met, and effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct lab, pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements and development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation etc.). You will ensure specification excellence and work in ION, to identify and lock ingredients and formulas based on scale up feasibility, optimization, regulatory/quality/safety constraints.
You will work with your R&D partners to identify and execute consumer and technical learning path; trouble shoot and create rigorous action plans for resolution. You will effectively communicate with your manager to ask for help when needed, outline issues and barriers to solve for. You will also be the go to R&D for the working team and therefore will communicate effectively with cross functional partners including commercial, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. You will connect with peers and technical experts to seek guidance as appropriate, you will apply technical rigor tools such as TRL, risk management, reporting, as well as digital tools such as Power BI, AIPD, etc.

- Technical Expertise in Sweet and Savory technology: Apply and continue to develop strong technical expertise in Sweet and/or Savory technology, formulation and scale up, with a growing understanding of how your technical decisions influence both projects and the business as a whole.
- Problem Solving: ability to problem solve within your domain, generating technically sound hypothesis and action plans with the support of peer and experts. Ability to handle everyday challenges independently, while seeking guidance from senior colleagues for more complex issues.
- Innovation: Managing multiple Innovation initiatives such as Line extensions or new proven platforms, while applying strong commercialization skills and adapting to consumer, project, marketing demands. Ability to manage some level of ambiguity while seeking for help when appropriate without getting frustrated; able to work with team to identify learning plan and appropriate timeline to execute with excellence. Present Risks and Mitigations and ability to flex and adapt while still holding team to excellence . Ability to work with risk, bringing proposal to solve roadblocks.
- Communication: Strong communication skills particularly when it comes to Keeping Manager abreast of any issues and next steps and regularly asks for help as appropriate to remove barriers, influence, tailor message, tell the story; Good presentation skills and able to presents to upper management, with varying degrees of autonomy
- Mentorship: Independently and proactively Seeks technical expert and SMEs advise on projects technical issues, processes, procedures. Always looking to improve technical expertise and learn from others. Helps Jr scientists grow in their day to day.

Education / Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science or relative. (Required)
Job specific requirements:
4 years minimum of experience in the Food Industry in Product Development (Required)
Travel requirements:
Ability to travel up to 20-30% of the time, on average, with both domestic and international travel possible. flexibility to travel to Mexico, Canada and within USA.
Work schedule:
This is a full-time role based in East Hanover, NJ with in-office expectations of 2-3 days per week.
