With your deep knowledge in the discipline, you will be an active team member who influences at the project team level. You will perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of organic, inorganic compounds, or biologics to determine chemical and physical properties during chemical syntheses, fermentation or drug product development process. This is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccine Research and Development - Analytical GLP laboratory group. The candidate will perform routine sample testing, assay verifications, and qualification studies in support of early vaccine GLP toxicology studies. Assays include standard bioassay techniques (MSD, PCR), analytical separations (HPLC, CE, etc.), and spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis, DLS).
How You Will Achieve It

  • In this position, under minimal supervision the individual will perform analytical method qualifications/verifications and routine sample testing in support of GLP release and stability of early phase vaccine candidates. This includes preparing samples, setting up and running the instruments, and analyzing data.
  • Document experiments, analyze data, and provide conclusions obtained from sample testing contemporaneously in notebooks as directed.
  • Identify opportunities for method improvements and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • With minimal guidance design, plan, and execute assay verification and qualification studies to support the release and stability of vaccine candidates.
  • Draft and revise SOPs , laboratory methods and reports.
  • Use own scientific judgment to qualify/adapt test methods and techniques within GLP by applying prior work experience and consulting others.
  • Serve as an SME. Train analysts on assays, provide mentorship and technical guidance.
  • Independently plan and prioritize their own workload to ensure timelines are met.
  • Collaborate with and lead other colleagues within the analytical group to support completion of assay verification/qualification tasks as needed.
  • Where applicable, perform job responsibilities in compliance with GLP requirements.
  • The individual is expected to contribute and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities (such as maintenance of equipment and managing laboratory waste).


Qualifications
Must-Have:

  • Applicant must have Bachelor's degree + 6 years of experience or Master +4 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a regulated environment, such as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Demonstrate leadership, technical skills and scientific expertise in analytical method qualification/verification and troubleshooting.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills


Nice-to-Have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry or Biochemistry
  • Experience and proficiency in separation-based analytical techniques (HPLC-UV, HPLC-CAD, CE), bioassays (PCR-based techniques, MSD, Slot Blot) and spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis.)


Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • The position has physical requirements of basic office and laboratory work environment (sitting, standing, primarily lab based)
  • Motivated, detail-oriented, with good laboratory skills.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis..


Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, or Environment Requirements:

  • This role is standard day Monday through Friday work shift; some off-shift support needed when issues arise.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74 900,00 to $124 800,00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7,5% of the base salary.
