The Product Manager, Editorial Solutions role is critical in streamlining newsgathering and editorial workflows through the implementation of our news planning platform. This role will be responsible for conducting end-user research and addressing complex challenges across various editorial and operational end-user groups, with a special focus on facilitating efficient news planning and coordination, and broadcast rundown management. This role involves organizing and assisting with workshops, continuously engaging with end-users, creating presentations to guide and facilitate discussions, and ensuring the successful rollout of new solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with editorial and operations teams to introduce and implement new workflows and technologies that address their needs
- Engage with vendors and internal software teams to develop solutions, create integrations, and optimize workflows for news planning
- Assist in managing the entire lifecycle of the news planning platform, spanning from design and development to deployment, and provide ongoing post-launch support
- Support the transition to a new platform for managing broadcast rundowns, assisting in a smooth migration and effective adoption across teams
- Work closely with software development, media and engineering operations, product development, and editorial groups to refine and iterate on solutions to enhance user experience
- Play a key role in the change management process, ensuring smooth transitions and user adoption of new platforms and technologies.
- Design and implement training programs for staff on the new system and workflows.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the latest trends and technologies related to news planning and show production planning
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in product management, particularly in media or news-related projects.
- Strong experience in news production, with a specific focus on editorial planning, broadcast rundown management, and coordination workflows.
- Proven ability to work effectively with editorial, operations, and technology teams in a media environment.
- Knowledge of various newsroom systems and vendors, with the ability to stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the field.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education in a relevant field.
- Familiarity with media management workflows, news planning tools, newsroom coordination platforms, and broadcast rundown systems
The hiring range for this position in New York is $145,400.00-$195,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
