About this role:

As a Sr. Product Designer at January, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our products, helping borrowers regain financial stability while driving growth and innovation in the credit ecosystem. Your designs will be instrumental in making debt collection a more humane, empathetic, and efficient process. You’ll report directly to the Manager of Product Design and work closely with Product Managers and other departments including Product, Engineering, and Analytics, to bring new opportunities to life.

You’ll be the voice of our users, helping us make more empathetic experiences for borrowers and more streamlined experiences for creditors. You’ll contribute to all aspects of the design process, including user research, feature ideation, wireframes, and final designs. This role is perfect for a product designer who wants to have an outsized impact on the direction of a company and product.


Your Impact:

  • You’ll support borrowers toward financial improvement by providing optimistic and persuasive visual layouts that support January’s mission and brand.  
  • You’ll partner directly with Product Managers and our Analytics & Data Science team to build and validate hypotheses about new opportunities, playing a significant role in shaping our roadmap and direction.
  • You will work closely cross-functionally to bring new opportunities to life through wireframes, mockups, and pixel-perfect designs.
  • You'll use the insights you uncover through user research to craft improved user experiences.
  • You’ll be the voice of our users, helping us make more empathetic experiences for borrowers.


You may be a fit if you:

  • Have 4+ years of experience as a UX/Product Designer, with a portfolio showcasing full-stack design skills that drive conversion rates and key business metrics.
  • Excel in Persuasive Design and Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), using Visual Design to directly impact customer growth.
  • Are skilled in visual design principles, including copywriting, layout, and usability, with a focus on customer-facing work (e.g., marketing pages, email campaigns).
  • Have expertise in UX design tools like Figma, with animation experience as a plus.
  • Are passionate about creating engaging, user-centered designs that align with business goals.
  • Leverage a blend of copywriting, storytelling, and usability knowledge to craft designs that boost customer engagement and brand loyalty.
  • Understand how to enhance product adoption across multiple channels, including landing pages, email, and onboarding.
  • Have experience conducting UX research and turning insights into actionable design improvements.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with product managers, engineers, and analysts to bring concepts to life from ideation to launch.
  • Thrive in taking broad ideas and turning them into actionable, impactful design solutions.


Our compensation range for the Sr. Product Designer role is $120,000 to $170,000. We determine the final package by considering experience, applicable education and training, and relevant skills derived throughout our interview process.
