The Role

We are seeking a Policy & ESG Associate to join our team. This role will report to our Director of Government Affairs & ESG and will provide support to several teams across the organization: Government Affairs, Commercial, Marketing, People, and others. The Policy & ESG Associate will conduct research and analysis of key energy, climate, and ESG policies and market developments, support government funding and tax credit applications, and serve as a project manager for AIR COMPANY’s environmental justice and ESG initiatives. This role will be based in Brooklyn, NY.

 

  • Policy & Government Affairs: Monitor, analyze, and update the team on federal, state, and local policies and regulations relevant to the business. Prepare policy overview summaries, maintain good understanding of the key requirements important to the business policies and incentives, consistently update internal policy and regulatory knowledge repository.
  • Advocacy and Thought Leadership: Work with the Director of Government Affairs & ESG to ensure external messaging alignment with the business’ activities and priorities by drafting and reviewing external-facing content. Develop materials to support advocacy, education, and community engagement efforts. 
  • ESG: Work with relevant teams to support internal ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting. Monitor ESG policies/requirements and voluntary trends to support the company’s sustainability strategy. Support public-facing materials development. 
  • Community Engagement & AIR Scholars Program: Support the facilitation of AIR COMPANY’s community engagement and educational initiatives, such as our AIR Scholars program. With this program, we’ve partnered with local high schools to provide financial, educational and career-based resources to students that live in the communities that are disproportionately impacted by environmental injustice and climate change. The Associate will provide project management, research, and subject matter support, as well as oversee the publication of AIR Scholars cohorts research to peer-reviewed publications.. 


  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Public Policy, Corporate Social Responsibility, or a related field and 3-4 years of relevant full-time work experience in climate/energy/fuels or sustainability/ESG fields.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental policies, regulations, and guidelines focused on clean energy technologies, sustainability, and environmental justice. 
  • Excellent research and analytical skills to assess policy documents and understand their implications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex issues to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to think critically and identify threats and opportunities for the business in the policy and regulatory space. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when necessary. 
  • Ability to be flexible and nimble in a fast-paced environment. 

 

  • Masters degree and 1-2+ years of relevant full-time work experience in climate/energy/fuels or sustainability/ESG fields
  • Policy or government experience a plus 
  • Project management experience desired. 

$75,000 - $85,000 

The approximate annual base compensation range and benefits listed above may vary based on the applicant's experience, skills, abilities, and relevant industry expertise.
