StarChapter, part of the Fullsteam organization, is a leading provider of Association Management Software (AMS) focused on local chapters of professional and trade associations. Our platform is designed to streamline and optimize association management, allowing volunteer board members to focus on their industry. We are seeking an experienced PHP Developer with leadership skills to join our remote team and help advance our platform’s development.

This role is the first internal team member on our otherwise outsourced development team. This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys cross-team collaboration, working independently, and communicating well with both technical and non-technical team members.

As a Lead PHP Developer, you will be essential in the development and enhancement of our AMS SaaS product. This role combines technical expertise with leadership experience. You will oversee and collaborate with a team of contractors, ensuring projects are completed on time and to our high standards. Your leadership will guide the development team, manage resources, and ensure successful delivery of our software solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Management: Lead and mentor a team of contractors, providing guidance and oversight to ensure effective collaboration and successful project outcomes.
• Development: Develop and maintain PHP-based applications and services for our AMS SaaS platform, ensuring high quality and performance.
• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver solutions that align with business goals.
• Troubleshoot and Debug: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs and performance issues to maintain optimal system performance.
• Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of code, processes, and system architecture to facilitate knowledge sharing and project continuity.

Skills & Competencies:

• Experience: Extensive experience as a PHP Developer, with a strong portfolio of projects, particularly in AMS or related SaaS environments.
• Leadership: Proven leadership experience, including managing and coordinating with contractors or remote teams.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in LAMP stack technologies, JavaScript, and Git. Prior experience with frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
• Remote Work: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote setting with strong self-management and communication skills.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud services (AWS preferred), Cloudflare, and containerization (Docker).
• Knowledge of additional programming languages or technologies.
