Dotdash Meredith is looking for a versatile full time photographer to work across its diverse catalog of brands. You will be creating original content as directed by brands’ creative team. This role may one day be shooting still life in the studio and another heading out to shoot beauty and fashion on the street. The photographer needs to understand the sometimes subtle differences between the brands and to be able to quickly transition styles of one brand to another. 

The ideal candidate would have a strong, versatile portfolio, including portraiture, beauty, lifestyle, and still life photography. They would have a personality that welcomes different challenges and has the ability to problem solve and pivot with priorities. Working knowledge of studio lighting using Profoto lights, Canon camera systems, and Capture One are required. A degree in photography is a bonus, but not required. Must have on set shooting experience in either a freelance or full-time capacity.

In-office Expectations: This position is fully in-office due to the nature of the work being done.

Essential Job Functions

Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results: 

75% Provide original photography within the specifications determined by photography, creative, or editorial management. Design and arrange all photographic shoots utilizing technical lighting expertise and editing judgment, to assigned photography. The photography to be produced will meet or exceed company expectations and will be used for all media and publishing purposes from editorial to marketing in both digital and print.

10% Manage and maintain photography equipment and technical processes.

5% Assist with the planning, research, and testing of all equipment and processes to maximize workflows. 

5% Provide 100% accurate data administration of photography media and related services for publishing content. Provide photography archiving and retrieval file management for Creative Library.

5% Provide mentorship to the studio assistant

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

  • A versatile portfolio that covers lifestyle, beauty, fashion, food, and still life photography.

  • Willingness to adapt to different brands needs. 

  • Ability to discern and apply subtle visual differences between our brands.

  • Knowledge of studio lighting (Profoto), Canon camera digital systems, fluent in Capture One

  • On-set digital asset management experience

  • Intermediate level knowledge of Photoshop for light on set editing, cropping, and resizing

  • A personality that welcomes different challenges and has the ability to pivot and adapt with changing priorities

  • Ability to commute to NYC studios 5 days a week

  • 5+ years shooting in freelance or full-time capacity 

  • Experience working on set with clients and art directors

  • A degree in Photography or similar study is a bonus, but not required
