About the Position
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll team in New York. This position will support our payroll processing and compliance for the Americas and involves working very closely with our global Payroll team.
You will be responsible for the timely preparation of compliance-related items, coordination with our mobility team, and providing friendly customer service to colleagues in response to their payroll queries. This role will also include collaborating with HR, and other internal teams such as the Workday team on process improvements within the Workday system.
Additional responsibilities of this role will include:
- Supporting semi-monthly and ad hoc payroll processing, and acting as a backup resource to cover team absences
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Partnering with our global Payroll team and Mobility team on expat payroll implications associated with employee mobility
- Contributing toward process enhancements and efficiencies, and recommending ways to improve and automate payroll processes
- Participating in UAT and regression testing of payroll changes and updates to the payroll system
- Project managing cross-team initiatives
- Leading payroll audits and compliance initiatives such as 401(k) non-discrimination testing and audits, tax credit analyses, and worker’s comp audits
- Maintaining payroll and internal control procedures, and ensuring that process notes are comprehensive and kept current

About You
- 8+ years of Americas payroll and project management experience, preferably from a financial services background
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field
- Experienced with in-house payrolls with a technical understanding of an in-house configuration
- Experience working with Workday HR/Payroll and ADP SmartCompliance is preferred
- Solidly understands multi-state payroll taxes, along with how payroll impacts financial reporting
- Handles sensitive information with good judgment and discretion
- Intellectually curious and willing to learn
- Organized with great communication skills; able to build strong collaborative relationships across various groups within a firm
- Excellent time management skills; able to handle competing priorities
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; detail-oriented with a “can-do” attitude when resolving issues
- A skilled and advanced Microsoft Excel user
