We're looking for an individual to join the Data Science, Strategy, and Instrumentation Organization as a Manager of Data Science Engineering. This role reports into the Sr. Manager of Data Strategy and will be focused on leading all data-driven initiatives related to Disney Advertising's technical capabilities. The individual that fills this role will be responsible for bringing engineering rigor, architecture expertise, governance and automation to team infrastructure and projects. The ideal candidate has spent time as an active developer (Data Science, Data Engineering or Software Engineering), has product/program/project management experience and desire to be in a business-facing role.
Supporting the Disney Advertising organization, the Data and Measurement Science team are subject matter experts in each of the following areas:
- Identity
- Measurement
- Addressability
- Programmatic
- Data-forward business development
Team, Project and Program Management:
- Maintain all technical development aspects of the Data Strategy Roadmap
- Manage a team of Data Scientists and Data Science Engineers, scoping work and providing technical expertise and guidance
- Manage all development projects, ensuring appropriate communications, timelines and sign-off occurs with relevant stakeholders
- Consult with stakeholders such as product, strategy, analytics and business teams to ensure requirements are captured and implemented appropriately
Develop and Implement Architecture and Infrastructure Strategies:
- Evaluate existing infrastructure and provide new strategies to monitor pipelines, data quality and
- Establish technical documentation standards and methods for cataloging pipelines and organizing code
- Develop wireframes and ERDs to assist with the scoping of projects for developers
- Consult on architecture best practices and data governance initiatives
Develop and Implement Code for POC Initiatives:
- Serve as a surge resource to assist in the development of new tools, statistical models, and analysis processes to improve how data is used across the organization.
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field and minimum of 8 years of experience (or Masters degree and minimum of 6 years of experience) working in a data engineering role.
- 2+ years of technical management experience in a direct or indirect capacity.
- Expertise using SQL within Cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud and Snowflake.
- Expertise developing code, pipelines and orchestration processes in Airflow using Python.
- Expertise in bash and other command-line programming tools such as Google Cloud/AWS SDKs and Snowflake SnowSQL.
- Experience developing architecture standards, identifying inefficiencies and providing thought leadership
- Experience creating and implementing technical documentation standards.
- Experience working in an agile environment helping lead development of requirements, management of workflows and priorities, and generation of feedback to a data team.
- Great organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Preference given to experience in digital advertising and advertiser-facing data products such as Data Clean Rooms.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $175,800 - $235,700 per year, in Santa Monica, CA is $167,700 - $224,900 per year and Seattle, WA is $175,800 - $235,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
