Hinge is the dating app designed to be deleted

In today's digital world, finding genuine relationships is tougher than ever. At Hinge, we’re on a mission to inspire intimate connection to create a less lonely world. We’re obsessed with understanding our users’ behaviors to help them find love, and our success is defined by one simple metric– setting up great dates. With tens of millions of users across the globe, we’ve become the most trusted way to find a relationship, for all.

About the Role

Hinge is hiring a Lead Technical Product Manager, Notification Platform, sitting at the intersection of Hinge’s end-to-end notifications user experience and the underlying tech stack that powers it.

Notifications (email, push and in-app) are a key opportunity to drive impact at Hinge, ultimately getting more people out on great dates and growing Hinge’s business.

In order to unlock this growth, Hinge is streamlining its notification infrastructure to make optimizing notifications and creating new ones as efficient and impactful as possible.

This role will collaborate with partners from Engineering, Design, Data and ML. It will require a keen ability to synthesize internal and external user needs along with high-level technical considerations to balance solving near-term blockers and ultimately inform both the high level architecture and user experience of all notifications at Hinge.

This role will come with an opportunity to collaborate and influence in adjacent areas over time, including Hinge’s Design System, AI platform, Experimentation toolset and Notification Platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Build vs. Buy Discussions: Evaluate user requirements against open-source options, SaaS vendors, and technical and architectural choices.
  • Gather and Prioritize Requirements: Collect and prioritize internal and external customer requirements and goals.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with engineering, design, data, ML, and marketing teams to design, evaluate, and prioritize solutions.
  • Develop a long-term Roadmap: Enhance Hinge’s notification infrastructure, focusing on incremental value towards a fully functional notification platform.
  • Track and Communicate Metrics: Devise, track, and communicate the status of OKRs and KPIs to Hinge’s leadership.
  • Champion Improvements: Promote the capabilities, address gaps, and highlight upcoming improvements of Hinge’s notification platform internally.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven Experience: 8+ years in a technical product management or equivalent role in an engineering platform organization
  • Decision Making: Demonstrated experience weighing technical tradeoffs with a focus on impact to end user and business outcomes
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: A proven track record of collaborating effectively with a wide range of cross-functional partners including members of Engineering, Design, Data and Machine-learning disciplines
  • Communication Skills: Experience clearly communicating about the impact of technical considerations to a wide variety of audiences through strategy documents and presentations and live Q&A sessions
  • Technical Comprehension: While you won’t be writing code, you should have a working understanding of REST APIs, cloud services, distributed systems design, webhooks, Web & Mobile SDKs and templating languages.
  • Bonus: experience working with notification user experiences, vendors and platforms such as Braze

As a member of our team, you’ll enjoy:

Professional Growth: Get a $3,000 annual Learning & Development stipend once you’ve been with us for three months. You also get free access to Udemy, an online learning and teaching marketplace with over 6000 courses, starting your first day.

What We Do

In today’s digital world, singles are so focused on sending likes and looking through profiles that they’re not actually building meaningful connections and going on dates. Hinge is on a mission to change that by designing the most effective app experience. On Hinge, there are no rules, timers, or games. Instead, you’ll have unique conversations over the text, photos, and audio you’ve shared on your profile. And it’s resonating with daters. Hinge was the fastest-growing dating app in the US, UK, Canada and Australia in 2019 and 2020.

Our Culture:
- Authenticity: Share your genuine thoughts and opinions directly.
- Courage: Invite and deeply consider challenges and criticism.
- Empathy: Be empathetic, communitarian and trustworthy.

Why Work With Us

We're mission-driven. While most apps think about boosting sessions and time on app, we think strategically about meaningful end results (dates and relationships).

We're culture-first. We believe in great people over process. Decisions are pushed to the front lines, with feedback and coaching provided by our leaders.
