OpenX seeks a legal and privacy intern to join its Legal team.  The Company seeks a smart, innovative and creative thinker to inform the Company’s processes as it continues to expand its market leadership role as the world’s largest independent ad exchange and a leader in market quality.   


The internship will begin in the spring and there is a possibility for additional work during the summer and/or into next academic year. This is a remote-first position, although some in-office experience may be available depending on location. 

What you will do:

  • When you join our Company, you will be engaged on many cutting edge legal and privacy issues as they relate to our business.  Responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing, assessing, and documenting our approach on a variety of legal contracts.
  • Reviewing, updating, documenting, and tracking internal and external company policies.
  • Researching historical material regarding government regulations and laws related to compliance, data privacy, and other related topics.
  • Developing and helping to implement internal company processes.
  • Conducting diligence on different business partners to understand their approach to compliance with applicable laws.
  • Staying current and reporting to the legal team on the latest privacy initiatives and developments within the advertising industry and with government regulators worldwide.
  • Reviewing non-disclosure agreements, comparing vendor-provided NDAs to company templates,  and escalating potential issues to key stakeholders.
  • Drafting short contract amendments, such as currency changes, changes to payment terms, and other corporate changes.
  • Monitoring and tracking notable redlines in commercial contracts.
  • Filing executed agreements and tagging important clauses for reporting.
  • Assisting in a variety of legal research projects.  

What you will bring:

  • Excellent organizational skills. 
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Analytical, creative problem solver, intellectually curious and a strong interest in legal work and consumer privacy.
  • Technical or computer science background a plus but not required

OpenX is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For all applicants, the base salary range is noted above, per hour. A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.
