Medal is an engineering and product-led culture, and historically has invested in product in order to grow the platform. This worked and today Medal has millions of daily users. Given the scale today, Medal is now looking to invest in social marketing for the first time.
Traits in a Hire
- Loves to make content – An existing content creator that loves making funny and entertaining content
- Understands games – is likely an existing content creator for games
- Takes initiative – should be comfortable creating content and buzz without too much guidance or management. We will give this role free reign (just brand guidelines as guard rails)
- Funny content over core content – We want someone who prefers to make funny content, instead of competitive or super core content
- Well-networked w/ creators – The creator should have a bunch of friends who make content, as we want to lean in on collaborations
- Current on trends – Being up to date on current trends to take advantage of them immediately
- Reliable – this person should have the discipline to consistently create content
- Highly creative – has a history of repeatedly creating unique, innovative, funny content
Role requirements / responsibilities
- Target demo – Creating catered social content for social and competitive PC gamers
- Make cross platform content – Creating and optimizing the content strategy for Medal accounts across Twitter, Tiktok, YT and Instagram
- Hours – this hire should be willing to jump on a trend / meme when the timing is right, meaning they need to be plugged in at all times but can embrace flexible hours
- Partnering with other creators – to engage their audiences and for content diversity on our platforms
- Budget – Leveraging a budget of as high as $50k per month to make the best content possible
- Games to understand – Ability to cater to specific games like Valorant, Roblox, Fortnite/UEFN, Minecraft, and GTA, but also cater to gamers generally
- NYC – ideally but not required, someone based in NYC or willing to relocate
