Your Impact
Hearst Magazines seeks a Financial Analyst who will play a critical role in the finance operations for the advertising sales commission plans and other expenses. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration of the compensation for sales commission eligible employees. This role requires working with Sales, Business Insights, Technology Strategy and Sales Operations to ensure the proper plan calculation, delivery, and execution of sales commissions. Cross-team coordination, time management, and excellent communication skills are essential. It is key that we pay employees on time and accurately.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks. High competency of key computer programs including Excel is a must. The ability to manage multiple tasks and stay on deadline are required in this role. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, fast learner, and motivated to go above and beyond what is expected. In addition, the Financial Analyst must also be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Become a subject matter expert in Hearst Magazine's sales compensation policy and practices
- Collaborate with Business Insights and Sales Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely commission calculations and payouts.
- Support sales team members by responding to inquiries, providing report training and investigating data
- Research and facilitate the resolution of sales commission related issues. Identify and report systemic or recurring problems.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance sales compensation processes and systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to automate compensation calculations and reporting.
- Assist in evaluating different compensation structures at the request of management.
- Deliver regular and ad-hoc sales compensation reports and dashboards to provide insights to sales leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide metrics and analysis to be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the compensation plans, and suggest improvements.
- Assist in developing training materials to educate sales teams on compensation programs and tools.
- Additional responsibilities will include assisting in the analysis of other advertising expenses and lines of business and providing management with ad hoc reporting/analysis as needed.
Qualifications
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in finance or similar field
- 1-2 year's financial or business management
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite required (including pivot tables, look up functions)
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to work with accuracy and meet deadlines
- Retains interests in problem solving, variance analysis, and auditing
- Highly organized with strong ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Must be highly collaborative and have strong interpersonal skills to positively communicate with all levels of staff
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly convey recommendations and conclusions to senior leadership
- Knowledge of Oracle Financials, Oracle Planning & Budgeting Cloud Service (EPBCS), Salesforce, Xactly and/or Smartview a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets
This role requires the position to be located in New York, NY with an in-office presence of 3 days a week.
The base salary for this role is between $64,000 to $77,000 annually. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
