Job Description
The Firmwide Chief Data Office is responsible for maximizing the value and impact of data globally, in a highly governed way. It consists of several teams focused on accelerating JPMorgan Chase's data, analytics, and AI journey, including data strategy, data impact optimization, privacy, data governance, transformation, and talent. We are looking for a data executive to help shape the strategy for how we make data available to power everything from new product development to Artificial Intelligence models. This leader will join the team responsible for setting the firmwide data publishing strategy and driving the adoption of the strategy across the firm.
As a Data Management Director within our firmwide teams, you will engage in substantial interactions with various lines of business and corporate functions. This prominent role enables you to support and counsel senior management in implementing our strategies. You will have the opportunity to cultivate and lead robust teams, position yourself as a thought leader, and liaise with senior leaders across the business. Your profound comprehension of data and analytics will be instrumental in this role.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow a team of data experts, ensuring they are well-equipped to support all lines of business in executing our data publishing strategy.
  • Serve as a thought leader on data publishing, shaping the thinking of executives and influencing the strategic direction of the firm in this area.
  • Assist and communicate with the CDO Leadership Team in decision-making and strategy implementation.
  • Oversee the development and continuous improvement of data publishing standards, ensuring they meet the needs of the business and leverage industry best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with various lines of business to develop and implement approaches to data publishing, ensuring seamless integration and adoption.
  • Champion the adoption of data publishing standards across the organization, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders understand and adhere to these standards.
  • Work with a high degree of independence, demonstrating self-motivation and tenacity.
  • Support the attainment of business outcomes through close collaboration and alignment with various departments and support groups (Finance, Technology, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Human Resources, Audit).
  • Establish business processes: Identify, escalate, and mitigate business risks that could impair our ability to execute on our strategy.
  • Develop and provide valuable insights and analysis to the leadership team, enabling data-driven decision-making.


Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in the financial services or data/technology industry.
  • Experience in strategy setting and communication.
  • Experience and technical knowledge of data management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tight delivery timelines and ensure the organization is on track to execute and deliver strategic change that meets our goals.
  • Proven ability to execute via successful internal partnerships with other organizations, with the ability to influence people at all levels across a broad variety of job functions.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and matrixes environment to build consensus.
  • Excellent leadership skills in managing programs, projects, teams, and/or employees.
  • Structured thinker and effective communicator with excellent written communication skills. Ability to crisply articulate complex technical concepts to senior audiences with poise and confidence.
  • Ability to present to senior and global business heads through excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to challenge the status quo, think creatively, and problem-solve.


Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and grow a team of data experts, build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, and influence peers and executives.
  • Proven experience in shaping strategic direction and serving as a thought leader in data publishing or a related field.
  • Experience promoting transformational change preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across various lines of business and support groups, including Finance, Technology, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Human Resources, and Audit.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence, demonstrating self-motivation, tenacity, and the ability to operate effectively without a specific mandate. A strong understanding of the state of the art in data, analytics, and artificial intelligence is important.
  • Expertise in roadmap creation and execution, aligning and leading business operations to strategic organizational goals.Experience building and growing teams and developing talent.
