DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Develop and update detailed financial models, including historical and projected results, related to the three financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements) of coverage companies. Prepare detailed valuation frameworks for Chemicals businesses, using various financial modelling techniques including discounted cash flow (DCF), Sum-of-the-Parts (SOTP) and relative valuation methods such as free cash flow yield (FCF Yields), Enterprise Value to EBITDA (EV/EBITDA), and others. Gather publicly available data through regulatory filings, the Bloomberg Terminal and third-party consultant reports and analyze the data using advanced Excel features (including VBA macros, advanced indexing, look-ups, etc.). Perform core fundamental research on the Chemicals, Paper, and Packaging industries as well as the broader industrial ecosystem and the companies that comprise it. Conduct research through both formal and informal surveys of industry participants spanning many of the participants in the global chemicals sector. Remain up to date with latest regulations in the Chemicals sector, such as the inflation reduction Act (IRA) in the US, REPowerEU/Fit-for-55 package in Europe, green hydrogen infrastructure policies in China, and environmental emission norms (such as greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity), in addition to others. Generate ideas and incorporate research findings and views in compelling, in-depth reports related to coverage companies. Analyze and publish timely reports on monthly commodities trade data from China Customs releases. Respond quickly to actionable news events with efficient publication of shorter-length reports. Participate in conference calls and arrange meetings with investor relations and/or C-level company executives in the Chemicals industry. Work closely with sales force and traders to communicate industry views, interpret news and address client queries. This position requires up to 10% domestic and international travel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Quantitative Economics, Finance, Economics, or related field of study plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or as Equity Researcher, Equity Sales Associate, or related occupation.
Skills Required: Requires experience in the following: interpreting and generating well-reasoned financial projections of the three financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements), incorporating historical trends, management guidance, supply-demand forecasts, and competitive dynamics; generating valuation frameworks for public equity using various financial modeling techniques including discounted cash flow (DCF), Sum-of- the-Parts (SOTP), and relative valuation methods including Enterprise Value to EBITDA (EV/EBITDA) and free cash flow yield (FCF Yields); communicating complex financial analysis and stock pitches verbally and in writing with institutional investors; analyzing global and regional commodities data; referencing international policies related to general economies and geopolitical dynamics in the industrials sectors; gathering publicly available data through regulatory filings, Bloomberg Terminal and various consultant reports; analyzing third-party data and regulatory filings using advanced Excel features including VBA macros, advanced indexing, and look-ups; drafting research reports incorporating data- driven analysis and actionable ideas in the public equity space.
Job Location: 383 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10179. This position requires up to 10% domestic and international travel. Telecommuting permitted up to 20% of the week.
Full-Time. Salary: $200,000 - $200,000 per year.
