About the team 

The Trading team manages the existing Paxos trading infrastructure which includes a quoting service, an exchange, our pricing APIs, and access to our network of external liquidity providers. These services currently serve key stablecoin conversion functionality through risk management, internal markets for external stablecoins, access to external liquidity providers, and existing liquidation patterns. 

The team’s focus is on providing highly reliable, low burden systems to support both trading and external stablecoin liquidity. Its mission is prioritizing investments that strengthen the trading partnerships and platform.

About the role

As the Engineering Manager for the Trading team at Paxos, you will play a critical role in leading and shaping the scaling and stability of our trading and commodities solutions. You will bring your strong background in modern technologies and process-oriented leadership to guide our team through crucial technology choices, strategic direction, and operational excellence.

What you’ll do 

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of payments solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, operations, and other engineering teams to define project scope, objectives, and timelines.
• Ensure the scalability, security, and performance of applications and infrastructure.
• Establish and enforce best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation.
• Manage resource allocation, budget planning, and project prioritization to optimize team productivity and project outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new team members to build a strong and cohesive engineering team.

About you 

• Proven experience (5+ years) in software engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience in a management role within an engineering team.
• Must have 4+ years leading a backend trading team, either in a technical or people leadership capacity. 
• Familiarity with code deployment and maintenance, cloud platforms and services.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
